Advantages: it's nice, reasonably calm, and generally a nice place to be. Disadvantages: not really many

Getting There... Sheffield has wonderful transport links by bus and train with local bus services and coach services from up and down the coutry and trains to and from London and pretty much everywhere else in England. There is a lack of parking in sheffield and roads are very crowded so going by car is never a good idea though if you are wanting to get into the city centre then you can park at a park and ride and get the supertram to the city centre which is very convenient (see my review of the sheffield supertram system).
The City Centre... The city centre of sheffield is in my opinion, one of England's best and is very clean, light and open and feels very safe and secure. There are many shops in the centre however these are sprawled out over several streets and the layout can sometimes be confusing, although generally wherever you go you will always come back to the main street or the train station eventually. The shops are very good with huge variety and in general it is a pleasure to shop there. Another advantage of the city centre is that it is not normally overcrowded.
The Shopping centre... Sheffield has a huge shopping centre, Meadowhall, which is the second largest in the country, second only to the metro centre in Newcastle. It is vry large but easy to find your wa around and provides a huge variety of shops and great facilities for all. There ius a childen's play group so adults an shop on their own and also many shops that appeal to families, kids, just adults and anyone else you can think of. This has it's own train station and bus station as well as being on the supertram routes too.
In Sheffield there are also several parks some very family friendly, others have skate parks and are aimed and teenagers and some areas of sheffield are aimed only at teenagers. There are parts of sheffield that are quite scruffy yet on the whole most of the city is pleasant.
There is an awful lot to do in Sheffield including a science adventure entre nearby, called magna that I will write a seperate review of soon. There are two theatres, the crucible and lyceum, both very good and showing a variety of shows which are generally good.
All in all Sheffield is a very nice city and I would reccomend visiting it. I hope you have found this review helpul and if you require any more information please leave me a comment and I will update the review accordingly.
Living in Sheffield ( the Uk's 4th largest city) and liking to travel has always proved a bit of a hassel having to travel to either Manchester or Eastmidlands or even in some cases a1 4 houir journey to London so when it was announced that we were going to get a airport i started to get excited even if it would only be a stol airport (short take off and land) meaning having a small runway, we were promised that regualr services would run from there, ...
