What can I say about this place? Well ive lived here for 21 years now, and loved every minute. Wherever you are, youre never more than about 15minutes from breathtaking scenery, rolling hills and the beautiful sight of the hills on all sides of the town centre.
Of course, the big out of town shopping centre that is Meadowhall™ has virtually killed off the aged city centre.
The only redeeming feature of "town" now is that theres a virgin megastore there, as well as a very nice looking revamped Peace "gardens".
one word about the locals - theres nowhere on this planet where you will find more helpful, cheerful and talkative strangers. Simple as that.
On a bad note - the bus service is appalling. OK sure, theres loads of buses to student areas and the like, theres even a 24 hour Service to Crookes etc, but the other parts of the city are poorly serviced. Not to mention the fact the drivers are generally the most miserable arrogant people alive.

Advantages: Great public transport and lots to do Disadvantages: Not really ideal for longer than a day trip because tourism hasn't really developed here yet.
