...In September 2004, my husband and I went on holiday to Barcelo Naiboa Caribe Beach Resort on the south coast of Dominican Republic. The complex wasn't cracking, but it's the company that can make a holiday fun!
THE RESORT
We arrived at the hotel in the dark, after a 5 hour bus journey. The travel company told us it would be 2 ½ hrs. So, by the time we arrived we were pretty fed up. My first impressions of the organisation of the hotel "was chaos". 8 couples got of the rickety bus, to check in and it took the receptionist a further hour to get us all checked in. they'd lost registration details, couldn't find some keys (great security) and someone's luggage had gone missing between the airport and the hotel! Great start.
Next morning we got to look around. It's quite a basic hotel; but that didn't bother us. We both work in hotels...

Advantages: Beach, big swimming pool Disadvantages: Mosquito
...My family and I stayed at the Barcelo Solymar Hotel for two weeks in June 2005. The first thing I must say about this hotel is what a great location, the beach is right on its door step and must the one of the best beaches in the world, the white sand seems to go on forever and the sea is so clear and warm it is almost like your stepping into a giant bath tub.
The hotel itself is very large with one of the biggest swimming pools I have ever seen! The hotel has a huge open lobby area, it is very pretty with a nice bar, lots of different seating areas, a few shops, a bank and the reception desk. My biggest complaint about this hotel would have to be no air conditioning in the lobby, it is unbearable to stay by the bar because of the heat most nights I found myself taking drinks to my room to enjoy the air-con.
Second biggest problem...

Advantages: Very luxurious, Good Service,Good Food Disadvantages: expensive
...I booked this holiday 4 weeks before i left and paid £459 for 2 weeks B&B at this 5 star hotel. This included return transfers and flights. I booked it through Thomas Cook. It is much cheaper to book through a tour operator because flights to Luxor are very exensive. Because of the price i wasn't expecting the hotel to be like the other Sheraton's i have stayed in before. Such as the Sheraton in Los Angles which was absolutely fantastic.
As soon as the Excel Airways plane touched down in Luxor Internatonal the locals constantly pestered us to rent trolley and buy food and drink. This was a cultural shock to me because it was the first 3rd World country i have ever been to.
Anyway after about a 20 minute ride in the coach we pulled up outside the Sheraton Luxor. The reception was fantastic-huge with loads of comfy seats...

We have visited Toronto a couple of times and each time we have stayed at the Sheraton, it really is a fantastic hotel. Both times we have booked through Canadian affair, we have found them to be very effiecient and reasonably priced. They offer flights... more
On a recent business trip to Orlando, I thought I would give the Sheraton Studio City a try. It was close to the highway and a good location for me, and at $129 a night for a club level room, I thought it was a good choice.
