My partner and I have been to Toronto twice now, both within the last 24 months. Both times, we have booked up through Canadian Affair and got the fantastic price of £28 a night per person! (Must book flights with them to do this, but apparantly there's another website - priceline where you can book the rooms w/o the flights for reasonable prices.)
Obviously, we loved the Sheraton the first time round otherwise we would not have returned! The rooms are spacious and have the comfiest beds known to mankind :-) The room service was thorough and efficient daily. Staff at reception were polite and efficent, and the staff at the Toronto Tours desk were fantastic. We organised numerous outings with them the first time and, although we weren't going on any tours this time round, we asked them for advice on resaurants etc. which they gladly provided - not a miss amoungst the recommendations!
There were excellent facilities in the hotel including a swimming pool (indoor/outdoor), fitness suite, spa, WiFi and many others, (See the Sheraton website for full details.) Although I can't comment on these as we didn't use them. We did make use of room service twice. As we got engaged whilst staying there :-) my partner had ordered a bottle of champagne which was pricey, but arrived on time perfectly chilled. We also ordered room service late one night after being out and the food arrived promptly, hot and tasty for a reasonable price for room service. ($15CAD/£7.50 for a chicken pannini with salad and fries)
The hotel is also directly connected to the underground PATH system with underground shopping for miles!! Fabulous in winter as it does get a tad cold! For shopping, the Eaton Centre is also across the road from the hotel (again you can walk to it via PATH) and has a good selection of shops.
I wouldn't recommend using the bistro in the hotel for breakfast as there is a fabulous breakfast place called Sunset Grill only 5mins walk along from the hotel which is v cheap and wonderfully tasty! There are numerous bars and restaurants within walking distance that are well priced and serve good food that I would be loathe to stay in the hotel to eat at all!! The hotel bar is also overpriced as to be expected for a city centre hotel.
The only downside to the hotel is the carparking - park across the street at city hall - cheaper and still accessible.
All in all, if I were to go a third time, I would definitely return to this hotel!!
