Advantages 5* service, excellent food, clean big rooms with seating areas
Disadvantages None
The service at this hotel was amazing. As soon as we got there, people took care of our luggage without even asking us.
The food was amazing, they had everything on offer set up as a buffet, but with the most amazing food selection: you could choose anything for breakfast from eggs and cerial to sushi and salads, lunch was a selection of local specialities and western dishes and dinner was like you're dining at a really posh expensive restaurant. The selection of wines was also excellent, considering it's in Doha, which is quite a traditional place. The hotel has it's own beach with lounging chairs. I didn't get to see the gym (I was on holiday lol) but a friend said he was really surprised with the facilities. Apparently they had every concievable machine. They also have an outdoor heated pool if you don't like the whole swimming in the sea business, like me.
The only negative thing is not about the hotel, but about people in Doha. We decided to go out to a clubbing night and there were a lot of fights and general tension in the air. I don't know whether this is specific for club nights (which are held at the hotels, because of no-drinking laws) or if the fact that drinking laws exist so people are not used to alcohol that much, but I didn't like the fact that people are easily ticked off and demand a celebrity-like treatment at all times.I was witness to two guys bidding for the only VIP table left in the place and they were both trying to outbid eachother, offering stupid amounts cash for it.
But apart from that, the locals during the day are really nice to western women but I'd advise against wearing short skirts or trying to do a booty wiggle in the venues. I've seen one girl do it and afterwards, there were about 10 boys trying to get a photo and touch her... BizarreSo I guess their culture is quite a bit different and I don't know whether I'd go back there because of this, but it's definitely worth seeing.
The hotel room that we had was a deluxe room which we got for £130 a night, so not that outrageous for a 5* hotel that has a butler service on demand :)All rooms have internet access, but internet was down when we were there...
The room was amazing it looked out to the sea and breath-taking views of the Doha skyscrapers.I'd recommend Sheraton Doha, it's a really really nice hotel with excellent service.
