Sheraton Manhattan Hotel, New York City

Advantages: central manhatten, 10 minute walk from south side of Central PArk
Disadvantages: doesn't come cheap

...New York Hilton and Towers is found on the corner of 54th Street and Ave of the Americas. When your taxi pulls into "Silver Drive" of the building, you know you are to suffer a week of luxury. It will ull in along side the hotels limosines and although these limos are saved for the Hiltons most prestigious guests, the concierge is most will ing to oblige in ordering you a limo from a private company. It's elegance is obvious from the second you walk into the magnificent lobby. The place has an amazing jewellers to the right of you that is in the building that will leave you staring paralyses for a few seconds then you may make your way up to your room. The rooms are somewhat of a letdown after visiting the lobby but they are nice enough. However they dont seem to portray the grandure that recently coated you. But you... Read review

...My husband and I stayed at the New York Hilton in Central Manhattan over Christmas and New Year. It is in a superb location - on the same street and only a block or two away from Radio City Music Hall. Central Park is in walking distance, as is Times Square, which is a great place to be over the holiday season! The rooms were good - very spacious, clean bathroom and the maid service was excellent. The hotel bars are very well used and extremely welcoming, and the American marketplace restaurant is OK, but if you are in Manhattan there are better places to eat than your hotel restaurant! All in all, it was a decent, clean and comfortable hotel and I would recommend it. The only drawbacks are that as it is so huge and has good business facilities, the lobby tends to be very busy. ...Located in an ideal location in Midtown Manhattan (W.33rd Street between 5th Avenue and Broadway), The Wolcott is a perfect base for a first trip to Manhattan, only blocks away from Macy's, the Empire State Building and the New York Library. Although not the most luxurious of hotels, the rooms are comfortable and provide what is needed for those on a budget, or those who would prefer to spend their money in Bloomingdales! Each room comes with ensuite bathroom, TV, telephone and air conditioning. For guests who are feeling fit after a day's shopping, the hotel also has a small but adequate fitness center. For the rest of us, there are vending machines for late-night drinks and snacks, located in the basement!... Read review
