we booked this hotel through my husbands employees only travel agency in june 2004.

we got a very good deal 7 day deal on a flights and hotel package - (king size room on B&B basis). the package cost £700, which is quite good during peak time. normally a room per night would cost about £70 for a king size. (check sheraton website for more details). best thing to always do is shop around of course !

We were transferred from the airport to the hotel by the hotel appointed transfer vehicle. Cost 70 TD, which works out to roughly £35, and took about 40 minutes.

We got there late evening, while the entertainment was still on – some magician, who well….lets just say the kids were entertained !

The rooms are within many bungalows, dispersed throughout 4 acres of beautiful gardens, situated right next to the beach.

We were shown to our room, which we were pleasantly surprised with! It was very traditional yet comfortable and modern. The room itself was huge. The 7ft wide bed was great and there was an extra conservatory attached to the room, which opens out onto a patio overlooking the beautiful gardens. The bathroom was large and decorated in traditional Tunisian fashion.

In the morning we walked over to he restaurant by the pool, serving a full buffet breakfast. The service was great and breakfast was yummy. A buffet of fresh fruit, continental cooked breakfast….., lots of choice. There is even a chef who makes your eggs just how you like them !

We then used our “towel card” to get 2 towels and made our way over the beach. When you check in you receive a card entitling you to a towel each. Every morning, we swapped our cards for 2 towels and swapped them back at the end of the day.

There is a pool within the hotel site which has a swim up bar. A 2-minute walk through the gardens leads you on to the stunning clean beach. There was never a fight for sun beds, there was always plenty, which was pretty good considering we went in high season. On the beach there is a hut selling cold drinks.

For lunch there are plenty of options. There is a noodle bar situated in the main hotel area near the pool. It doesn’t actually serve noodles though! It does pizzas, pastas, etc.

On the beach there is the BBQ diner. At lunch this serves all sorts from pizzas (£4 for a large pizza) to burgers. A beer costs about £1.50. Theres a dry white wine called Ugni Blanc which i loved and it is served in most bars and restaurants. Its about £4 a bottle.

There is a nice stretch of beach to the left, past the rocks. A 10-minute walk takes you to the Les Citronniers beach bar. The food and drinks here are great. Portions are large, and prices are cheap.

In the evening there was mainly a choice of 2 places to eat. The bbq diner does a buffet, which varies from seafood one day…to Italian the next. The cost is about £23 per head, excluding drinks. They have their own entertainment on the bandstand.

The other choice is a la carte in the main restaurant area. The choice was limited, but the food was excellent.

About 10pm every day in the main hotel areas there is always entertainment ranging from belly dancers to magicians. Its great if you have kids, otherwise we suggest you venture out and try the local restaurants and bars.

We ate out most days. Mostly in Hammamet Central, near the medina. But other days we tried the road on which the hotel was situated. I have written a separate review regarding eating out and general comments regarding venturing out of the hotel into other areas of Hammamet, such as the medina and Hammamet Yasmine.

Moncef bay (the road on which this hotel is situated) has many bars and restaurants. Take a left out of the hotel and you can see the London pub. English music, very lively, good if you are feeling home sick !

Further along the road (it winds to the left) there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Our favourite was latino bar. Great food, great music, a pool table, and friendly staff.

There was a club called Manhatten, which looked quite dodgy, so we didn’t risk it. Maybe if there had been more than 2 of us we would have given this a try…possibly.

There is plenty of choice, since they are all near each other, its best to walk along and see which one takes your fancy.

We got a bar ordered for our fridge. It cost £6 and consisted of 2 bottles of water and 4 bottles of Celtia beer.

Checking out was quick and simple.

Overall, we were very happy with the service, facilites and staff. We would recommend he hotel to anyone.

Please go to this website for more details on the hotel.
