    Advantages Advantages Fascinating museum, with great exhibits

    Shibden Hall is a Tudor-built manor house in the Shibden Valley, in Calderdale, which was owned by one family for 300 years. Today it belongs to Calderdale council, and is a public museum set in beautiful parkland. The house was built in about 1420, and is a Grade II listed house. It has been owned by four families, with the Listers being the final family. A Lister was the house's most famous resident. Ann Lister, known locally as Gentleman Jack, is known as the first modern lesbian, and lived here with her wife before her death in Russia.
