Shopping in Rome

Advantages: Godd variety, Excellent leather and fashion goods
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

...Piazza di Spagna and Veneto shopping areas. For art books, Messaggeri Bocca at Via delle Carroze 50 has an outstanding reputation.

Another enclave which should be considered by the serious shooper is the beginning of Via Appia Nuova at Porta San Giovanni where there are several department stores and small shops selling produce at competitive prices. Many offer vendita promozionale ( promotional sales ) where good bargains can be obtained ...
...antiques. Bargaining makes for exciting shopping but you probably need to know a smattering of Italian.

@@@ Porta Portese - Rome's most famous flea market is open only on Sunday mornings and it is advisable to get to the Porta Portese early if you are after a bargain. There are reckoned to be more than 2,200 vendors here which gives you good idea of the popularity of the place.
It's de rigeur to bargain, bargain and bargain ... more

WEST FIELD SHOPPING CENTRE DERBY

Advantages: COSTLY
Disadvantages: OUT PRICING SMALLER OUTLETS

...on cutting spending and new shopping centres are not well-matched with each other. Yes we love these new shopping centres and plush surroundings, tempting everyone to spend all their well earned money. But are we tempted? This is the multimillion dollar question. I love to shop like everybody else and buy new things like any other normal person would, also to have a good choice. So my idea of shopping is the traditional high street. Traditional ...
...suit everyone, Building huge shopping centres takes up space of any town or city and is becoming really outdated and boring. Today another shopping centre opens its doors and it is mammoth like those of Gates Head in the north and other big ones like the Meadow Hall; Sheffield and Merry hill; West Midlands. Why do we need all these shops, yes its exciting to visit them but they soon become exactly the same of all the other shopping malls, with the ...

Shop the Italian way

Advantages: Cheaper than England, best value in smaller boutiques and high-street shops.
Disadvantages: Shopping can be uncomfortable inheat of summer

You wil find the main shopping centre of Rome to be at the foot of the Spanish steps. It includes many chic and expensive shops (the kind that you feel often uncomfortable to walk into) coupled with those aimed at a more high street customer. The thing that is perhaps most welcoming about shopping in Rome itself, is the inexpensive price of the high-street shops. I was very shocked to find well-made clothing, using quality fabrics, at really cheap ...
...better for the English tourist. I managed to buy a lot more items on a tight budget than I was expecting. Shops range from Gucci, Sisley, Oynx, Prada etc. I felt more comfortable walking into the smaller boutiques and this is also where you will find the best deals. Look for well-made garments that use gorgeous fabrics. You will find them to be much cheaper than their British alernative. Enjoy yourself!! ...

Shopping in Rome

Advantages: Ease of shopping without the trawling
Disadvantages: None

...published a book purely on shopping in cities. I am due to go to Rome soon with a friend for a days manic shopping. It's very easy to find out about the Prada's, Gucci's etc., but where all all the little trendy boutiques. The shops that are not general high street but that are something a little bit different although affordable. I think it would be a brilliant idea to publish a series of books for all major shopping cities listing all the shops ...

...Blue-water in london and other shopping centres around but it will do. All the shops are fairly average there are no really expensive places. House of fraiser contains Morgan clothes,DKNY,ect if thats what your looking for. The trains go directly there and the car-parks are large and well planned out. If you want a really long day picking up lots of clothes then I would suggest Leeds city centre but if you just fany going shopping or watchinga ...

The Colombo Centre, Lisbon's Trafford Centre

Advantages: Very clean and plenty of variety.
Disadvantages: Approximately 15 minutes outside the City Centre.

The Colombo Shopping Centre is located on the Avenida General Norton de Matos, Benfica, Lisbon. It is accessible by both metro and bus, and just a short taxi ride from Lisbon’s city centre. Opened in 1997, the Colombo Centre is Lisbon's newest mall, being the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. As well as a shopping centre, it also houses a leisure complex, with a multiplex cinema, health club, driving range, and bowling alley to name a few. The shopping centre itself comprises 420 shops, including a large Marks & Spencer and a Fnac superstore selling almost everything from food to large electrical appliances – I found this store to be extremely inexpensive, especially on alcohol. The large stores are punctuated with speciality shops, selling goods such as local porcelain, jewellery, shoes, (leather items are very ...

Holiday Inn Express Nashville Downtown

Advantages: Value for money, good facilities, near "Music City" centre
Disadvantages: Bus ride to malls if you're there for the shopping

that in British Holiday Inn Express.) Hotel had copious "all you can eat" buffet breakfast, and no-one seemed to mind you taking out "supplies" for sustenance during the day. Nice bonus was the free afternoon snack of bbq sausages and popcorn which were dispensed around tea time in the lobby. This hotel has an excellent fitness room with all imaginable equipment and a small but adequate outdoor swimming pool with loungers for chilling out. Lots of families were in evidence and all seemed to be having a great time at the hotel. Location is pretty good - 15/20 minute walk to the centre of town for the various musical bars, performance venues etc. Note that Nashville's main shopping centres are out of town and best reached by bus or hire car. Not much shopping even for general items in the centre, the hotel does have a small shop ...

A Non-Internet Forum

Advantages: Lots of different shops, helpful staff
Disadvantages: None

The Forum is a shopping centre in the middle of Helsinki. It's only a few hundred metres from another shopping centre, Kammpi, which also houses the bus station and a metro stop. You'd think that two large shopping centres might struggle so close together, but both seem to be thriving. The Forum is built on several floors and has what you'd expect of a shopping centre: a lot of shops. Most of them are clothes shops, generally aiming at the teenage/early twenties market. So, like a lot of UK shopping centres in that respect. Wandering round, you'll see a few shops with familiar names. I spotted a H&M in there and the inevitable McDonalds. There are cafes and food shops as well. I had a very nice (only slightly expensive) sandwich from the Fazer café. There is plenty of choice of what to eat, whether you want a stylish sandwich ...
