For £139 each we got 2 nights in a good 4* hotel (with breakfast) in Brussels and return Eurostar tickets. Definitely cheaper than booking yourself – Eurostar tickets alone were £109 each and the hotel rooms started at £70. I didn’t find a break any cheaper on any other sites.
The hotels offered weren’t out in the sticks and our hotel was of 4* quality when we got there. We had a choice of Eurostar departure times and they weren’t crack of dawn departures (we left Ashford at 9.30am on way out and Brussels at 4.55pm on way home).
Prices for Paris start at £99 for 2 nights including Eurostar travel but this varies according to the time of year, day of the week you travel and standard of hotel you choose.
~ hidden extras ~
None. No extra taxes or charges which was a nice change. We opted for their insurance at £10 each but didn’t have to. We paid £139 each for the break as it was shown on the website.

Easiest to use of all short break ones I tried. Choose a destination and it lists the hotels you can choose from. On the other sites when you chose a hotel you have to check it’s available by searching one date at a time. This is painful if you’re flexible on your dates and want to find the best deal.
This site displays a list of all available dates and prices for the hotel when you view it. This saved so much time!
~ ease of booking ~
You can send a booking request from the website but if you phone you can book straightway. The operator was nice and efficient. She explained our Eurostar tickets would read Waterloo even though we’d opted to join at Ashford so we’d know it wasn’t a mistake. The tickets and hotel voucher arrived within a week and included some tourist notes about Brussels aswell as a city map which was handy.
~ verdict ~
The short break was great. Because it was cheap I thought there was going to be something wrong but there wasn’t. There weren’t any hidden extras, we could travel on the trains we wanted to and it was very straightforward to book. When we got there our hotel had our reservation, knew we’d already paid and was very nice. We didn't get a room with a view but it was a bargain for what we’d paid.
Travelling on Eurostar was a nice surprise aswell, you don't check-in your luggage so there's no wait the other side and arriving at a train station in the city is much easier than an airport on the outskirts.
All in all a real result.
I’ve only used them once but I would definitely use them again.
Advantages: Quick journey times, comfortable, excellent customer service, internet booking Disadvantages: the pricing system
I have used Eurostar several times to travel into France. Overall I would absolutely recommend travelling byEurostar to visit France, whether for a short weekend break, a business trip or a longer holiday. It is a quick and comfortable way of travelling and although perhaps slightly longer than an equivalent flight, if you add on the time it takes to check in and pick up baggage the other end in an Airport, the Eurostar compares very well with flying with regards to time. Also, if you are in any way scared of flying (which I am!) it is a great alternative to having to board a plane, and is a lovely stress-free way to travel.
I have used Eurostar to travel to Paris, Lille and Avignon and each time have been impressed with the speed, comfort and customer service. You can get to Lille in just 1 hour 45 minutes from London Waterloo ...

Advantages: location, beautiful rooms, clean, tidy, rooftop terrace Disadvantages: staff are unwelcoming at first
You may wonder where I have been hiding the last past few days and I my absence is due to another very enjoyable stay in the beautiful city of Rome, a city fast becoming my favourite place on Earth. Instead of visiting on business I decided to take a short city break meaning that I could choose my own hotel and wasn't constrained by price. My favourite hotel in Rome is the Eurostars International Palace, a former Saladin villa located within the heart of historical Rome, but this hotel was fully booked so I decided upon the Valadier hotel due to its reasonable prices, good write up on a few traveling websites and its location.
Set off on a cobbled side street off the Piazza del Popolo, the hotel has 60 guest rooms and is approximately 35km (approximately 21 miles) from Fuimicino Airport and is within walking distance of the Rome metro ...
Advantages: Location - if you're using the Eurostar Disadvantages: Location - if you aren't using the Eurostar.
Regular readers - and I love you all to bits - will no doubt once again raise their eyebrows Heavenwards in supplication one more time when they read that I've just stayed in a hotel in Ashford, Kent. This time, however successfully I have managed to root out an undesirable holiday location - and, believe me, it is - there was method in my madness. It may be a convenient conference location, but there are certainly better centres from which to explore Kent, the "Garden of England". Try Canterbury, for example. It's where I live and it's less than 20 miles from Ashford. So why, exactly, did I do it?
Baby Josh and I decided that Amanda needed a weekend away (?Mothering Sunday? was looming) and we arranged a shortbreak in Brussels. The best way to get to Brussels from the South East of the UK is byEurostar, without a shadow of doubt ...
