Stinky, Busy and Very English.

Advantages: Scenery
Disadvantages: Beaches, Litter.

Me and my fiancé Dave were in Corfu just last week and although we stayed in a place called Canal D'amour, when we were looking at the brochures it was very attractive that there was a larger and busier resort just a 1km walk away called Sidari. On our second day on holiday we decided to go and have a walk there hoping that the descriptions of bustling shops, restaurants and bars and long golden sandy beach was accurate. We actually visited only ...
...two stars and here is why.

------

First Impressions:
On our way to our actual resort we had to pass through Sidari and from what I remember as I was quite tired on the coach it looked very much like a shanty town. All of the buildings looked like they desperately just needed some paint and the main street had no pavements so people were literally dodging out of the way to get out of the way of cars and coaches. ... more

Ease of getting around

Family Friendly

Brilliant Place, Brilliant People, some annoying points.

Advantages: Loads to do, great weather, lovely people, cheap
Disadvantages: hard to get around, constantly bothered by shop/bar owners.

...about on the roads in Sidari, every car has a dent and you just walk around witnessing accidents by the hour. I'm sure they have no idea how to drive over there. The roads are most definitely a death trap. If you do opt to go out by coach to other resorts (probably the safest way to get around) then it will take a long time to get anywhere due to the nature of the roads making getting around very slow. I think we had done most things in the week ...
...than a week before either going home or moving on. We paid £250 to go and I believe we got an absolute bargain. There is loads to do, friendly people and we came back feeling refreshed and really good sporting a great tan :). Overall I would recommend Sidari to those looking for a couples get away or family destination. Those looking for a remote destination or a lads or gals holiday should look elsewhere. ...

Canal d' Amour in Sidari

Advantages: great friendly locals, cheap to purchase things, etc
Disadvantages: a little bit of rain

...to cause any trouble. In Sidari, there was not trouble with anyone; it was just like one big family. During the day, there was plenty to do all the time, weather you like to dine, sleep, being active, or sight seeing. I did a mixture of all these. I even hired out a cycle (which is very unlike me on holiday) and cycled to various parts of the island during the day. This was like an excursion in itself as I saw some stunning sight seeing sites, local ...
...is advisable to go to Sidari, as this is the best place of the whole island. Kavos is like another Blackpool but a lot worse. It did not seem that attractive or much there, apart from the nightlife (which it is recommended to go on the company’s pub crawl there, but then again it is the 18 – 30’s hot spot). This is a good choice for anyone that likes a good time. (Personally, I did not want to leave there as I was having too much ...

Go it alone - fantastic!!!!!

Advantages: Do what you want to, when you want to......
Disadvantages: Strange at first

I know there are a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go...... "You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it. Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done? I had ...
...This is a plight faced by many single women every year, and I was no exception. My husband had died in 1982, leaving me to bring up my children, then aged 4 and 7 years, single-handed. Apart from spending a week at a holiday camp with the children, our holidays had been restricted to visiting parents and in-laws. Much as I wanted to, I just didn't have the courage to 'go it alone'. All I needed was a gentle push, which I received in 1986 when my ...

Sidari, Corfu - a great place to visit

Advantages: Great restaurants, pubs and beach
Disadvantages:

If you’re looking for a great ‘couple’ holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you’ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you’ve got the right partner!). You’ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports. You’ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ‘3 Little Pigs’, you ...
...meal. There is a real friendly atmosphere in the bars and for the lads and girls who can’t do without their football, you’ll find that many of the pubs will have the big English football matches on the TV. There are a few nightclubs in the town centre and plenty of shops and small tourist shops which offer trips to places such as ‘Corfu Town’. Our holiday to Sidari was by the far the best I’ve had and we definitely plan to go back there some time ...

Sidari

Advantages: Great value for money destination
Disadvantages: Arduous coach transfer for the travel sick

We took a family holiday to Sidari this year - two adults two children. Sidari is situated to the North of the island and it takes a while to get there from Corfu town. The journey zig zags over the mountains but it is well worth the bumpy sometimes disconcerting ride. The beaches are brilliant nice sand for the kids, as is normal the people very friendly and helpful. The perfect place to go with children if they are happy to entertain themselves ...
...The 3 little pigs is a must for at least one meal but try them all if you have the time. We had looked through several brochures before booking with Kosmar, who worked out the cheapest for the time we went, this concerned us a little but we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a new apartment overlooking a pool surrounded by 7 blocks of 4 and a snack bar. I will be going back. ...

miss sold our holiday by Thomson

Advantages: would have been a good compleate package holiday
Disadvantages: wasnt told it was no good for between 13-18 year old

Thomson group, My first holiday with Thomson was absolutely fantastic, we enjoyed every waking moment, and we booked and flew to Sidari in Corfu. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our hotel wasn?t a huge hotel, only built on two levels with a pool but excellent value for money. Our room was exactly as it was described in the Thomson summer sun broacher, bright roomy and very pretty. We had maid service every morning and came back to a spotlessly clean room, straight after breakfast everyday. Our meals were waiter service, and couldn?t be faulted We used to look forward so much to our next meal the minute we had left the table. Our trips out were fantastic service, and our tour guide was amazing, her knowledge of Corfu and sidari was exceptional. She was so funny we laughed all day. This holiday I thought was so pleasurable we ...

just had holiday with kosmar.went to sidari on the island of corfu.stayed at the joylife hotel which is a three star all inclusive. In my opinion this hotel should be graded as a one star.Got two very nice swiming pools, its just a shame that they never get cleaned,i.e.dirty elastaplasts bits of plastic off lilos and numerous other bits of rubish either floating or on bottem of pool.Going on to food if you like fried hot dog sausages and eggs with beans every day for breakfast then you cant go wrong.lunch and dinner is very repetative.Lots and lots of chicken and paster. As for desert jelly with tinned mixed fruit or a few bits of tinned fruit in a dish. When i say a few bits thats exactly what i mean.if you wanted a lunch basket you got a cheese and ham roll a bottle of warter and a peach that might be ripe if you where ther for six week ...

Corfu, Corfu, Corfu!

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, friendly people, great fun.
Disadvantages: going home :P

I went on holiday to Sidari Corfu last August with a friend and had a fabulous time. You can guaruntee that there is something for everybody, whether it be nightlcubs for the youths, traditional greek plate smashing or just lots of nice scenery for those who appreciate it. I stayed in a self catering appartment which was useful, it had a shower, bed, kitchen, all the basics which is all you need if your the type of person who hates staying in when your on holiday. We would get up at around 8 am, have a shower and some breakfast, then drive down to dassia around the mountains near the coast and sit on dassia's pebbly beach. Then at noon, we would eat some food that is simple like a burger and chips. Then we would have fun in the sea and sunbathe and then drive home for around 3pm. At 3pm then we would have an hours rest before hitting ...
