Me and my fiancé Dave were in Corfu just last week and although we stayed in a place called Canal D'amour, when we were looking at the brochures it was very attractive that there was a larger and busier resort just a 1km walk away called Sidari. On our second day on holiday we decided to go and have a walk there hoping that the descriptions of bustling shops, restaurants and bars and long golden sandy beach was accurate. We actually visited only ... ...two stars and here is why.

First Impressions:
On our way to our actual resort we had to pass through Sidari and from what I remember as I was quite tired on the coach it looked very much like a shanty town. All of the buildings looked like they desperately just needed some paint and the main street had no pavements so people were literally dodging out of the way to get out of the way of cars and coaches. I also remember looking at the roads ...

Advantages: great friendly locals, cheap to purchase things, etc Disadvantages: a little bit of rain
...to cause any trouble. In Sidari, there was not trouble with anyone; it was just like one big family. During the day, there was plenty to do all the time, weather you like to dine, sleep, being active, or sight seeing. I did a mixture of all these. I even hired out a cycle (which is very unlike me on holiday) and cycled to various parts of the island during the day. This was like an excursion in itself as I saw some stunning sight seeing sites, local ... ...is advisable to go to Sidari, as this is the best place of the whole island. Kavos is like another Blackpool but a lot worse. It did not seem that attractive or much there, apart from the nightlife (which it is recommended to go on the company’s pub crawl there, but then again it is the 18 – 30’s hot spot). This is a good choice for anyone that likes a good time. (Personally, I did not want to leave there as I was having too much ...

Advantages: Do what you want to, when you want to...... Disadvantages: Strange at first
I know there are a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go......
"You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it. Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done? I had ... ...This is a plight faced by many single women every year, and I was no exception. My husband had died in 1982, leaving me to bring up my children, then aged 4 and 7 years, single-handed. Apart from spending a week at a holiday camp with the children, our holidays had been restricted to visiting parents and in-laws. Much as I wanted to, I just didn't have the courage to 'go it alone'. All I needed was a gentle push, which I received in 1986 when my ...

Advantages: Great restaurants, pubs and beach Disadvantages:
If you’re looking for a great ‘couple’ holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you’ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you’ve got the right partner!). You’ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports. You’ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ‘3 Little Pigs’, you ... ...meal. There is a real friendly atmosphere in the bars and for the lads and girls who can’t do without their football, you’ll find that many of the pubs will have the big English football matches on the TV. There are a few nightclubs in the town centre and plenty of shops and small tourist shops which offer trips to places such as ‘Corfu Town’.
Our holiday to Sidari was by the far the best I’ve had and we definitely plan to go back there some time ...

Advantages: Great value for money destination Disadvantages: Arduous coach transfer for the travel sick
We took a family holiday to Sidari this year - two adults two children. Sidari is situated to the North of the island and it takes a while to get there from Corfu town. The journey zig zags over the mountains but it is well worth the bumpy sometimes disconcerting ride.
The beaches are brilliant nice sand for the kids, as is normal the people very friendly and helpful.
The perfect place to go with children if they are happy to entertain themselves ... ...The 3 little pigs is a must for at least one meal but try them all if you have the time.
We had looked through several brochures before booking with Kosmar, who worked out the cheapest for the time we went, this concerned us a little but we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a new apartment overlooking a pool surrounded by 7 blocks of 4 and a snack bar.
I will be going back. ...
