I went to Corfu 13th-21st July of this year (2009) with my girlfriend. We stayed at hotel Monika. Sidari is the second largest resort on the island of Corfu after Kavos.
The transfer from the airport takes roughly 1.5-2 hours.
It is a very beautiful place with places to just look out at the ocean or watch the sunset in the evenings but without all the trouble that comes with an 18-30 holiday destination. There are ample things to do in the day, with gorgeous weather you can just lay on one of the beaches or by the pool at your hotel and catch the sun. If you want more to do with your day, there are water sports, boats to rent, loads of shops, bars, restaurants and trips out.
In the evenings you are spoilt for choice with where to eat and we only had one bad experience with our evening meals. Generally I have to say the food was brilliant and everyone on the island was very friendly. The average price of a meal around 15 euros for 3 courses. The only bother is that everyone stands out on the street and tries there very best to drag you into their restaurant to eat, which if you are just out for a walk can become more than just a little bit annoying, to the point where i found myself being rude to people that were just doing their jobs.....whoops.
There are ample shops but you'll find they all sell very similar things and shopping will soon get very boring :(.
I would never recommend renting anything to get about on the roads in Sidari, every car has a dent and you just walk around witnessing accidents by the hour. I'm sure they have no idea how to drive over there. The roads are most definitely a death trap. If you do opt to go out by coach to other resorts (probably the safest way to get around) then it will take a long time to get anywhere due to the nature of the roads making getting around very slow.
I think we had done most things in the week we stayed there so i wouldn't recommend going for longer than a week before either going home or moving on. We paid £250 to go and I believe we got an absolute bargain. There is loads to do, friendly people and we came back feeling refreshed and really good sporting a great tan :).
Overall I would recommend Sidari to those looking for a couples get away or family destination. Those looking for a remote destination or a lads or gals holiday should look elsewhere.
