Sidi San Juan, Alicante
The 5 star Hotel Sidi San Juan, set in one and a half acres of gardens with over 200 palm

trees, is situated directly on the Playa San Juan, Costa Blanca's longest beach. With its choice of restaurants and bars, its close proximity to the city of Alica...
Advantages: close to the beach Disadvantages: service poor.
...My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a cockroach of the sort of proportions which might have got it some extra work in the film "Alien". The cleaning staff and indeed all the female staff working in the hotel were helpful and efficient, pleasant to talk to and always wore a smile. Anything else? hmmm the lifts worked!
None of the male staff measured up to the female. Surly, unhelpful and distant are the kindest words I can find.
The food was poor - it was never served warm. Maybe it is a Spanish tradition to serve mashed potato and vegetables cold. If so it is not one that I have encountered before. The shops in the area...

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card
...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa deSanJuan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The cost was €94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an “almost double” sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view.
THE HOTEL
The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in the basement...

Advantages: Climate ... Pretty cheap ...Breathtaking places Disadvantages: Can get very hot in peak season & high traffic congestion
.... The Playa deSanJuan is flanked by a road that has lots of hotels , retaurants , & bars. This area of Alicante is more prone to tourists.
• ~ La Playa Albufereta ~ This is more of a secluded beach , a smaller stretch of sand but nonetheless its still popular with the locals. You will find that at times there are a lot of high waves , especially on a windy day. So if you fear the sea & you prefer flat and calm waters then this is not for you.
• ~ La Playa Postiguet ~ This beach is situated within the city itself , and lies at the bottom of the Benacantil mountain , right near the port. The characteristics of this beach are the same as Playa deSanJuan. Fine golden sand that stretches for miles , ammenities galore & lots of water sports on offer.
• ~ La Playa Salador/Los Judios ~ Located south of the city , both are nudist...
