I went here with my daughter in the beginning of 2006, and kids do love the zoo, so I thought it would be perfect!. However not that impressed. It does have "the secret garden" - pretty much what it says, a garden area and places where you could take a picnic, or sit down if you can find room. On the day we went it was very busy and there was limited areas to have a rest. It was pricey when we went however current prices are:-
Adults $15 Children $10
TIGERS the only reason you'll probably want to go, because of the renown Siegfried & Roy - even more so because of the accident - morbid but honest. The tigers where plentiful, but just either sat or walked back and more their cages. I didn't feel the enclosures were as good as alot of other zoo's and this made me enjoy the visit less. The range of tigers was good but I got more excited than my daughter when we saw the whit tigers, and after awhile she was less interested and said "I've already seen a tiger", she really wasn't interested in selection, just the fact she'd seen one. And that's all there pretty much is there - tigers!
Dolphins, these went down with the little munchkin better than the tigers and we spent about 30 Minutes looking at the dolphins - you get to see a mini show, (if you miss it you have to wait awhile to see the next one) the dolphins jumped out of the water, caught some fish, and swam around a bit.
Lastly the shop - Very disapointed in all respects, not a good range, mostly T-Shirts and dodgy looking cuddly toys, limited selection, tried to get a stuffed tiger but they only had stuffed lions when we went. So my daughter didn't want a lion, so she bought a pencil with her pocket money. She queued up behind 1 lady, and when it was her turn, the shop assistant ignored her then served someone else, so I went to the counter with her and my daughter tried to give the assistant a dollar for the pencil - when the assistant said she can't serve children, then proceeded to serve the next person with complete disreguard for me - the cheak!!
Anyhow to some up - If you've got an hour to kill and you want to see a limited selection of animals in small cages, give it a go. Your probably thinking I hated it, well not quite, parts were enjoyable, however don't go thinking it's a day out experience you'd be disappointed. If you like the large cats go over to MGM - small cage, but if your lucky depending on when you go you get to have your photo taken with a lion cub - brilliant! Only in America lol
