Good hotel which serves it's purpose

Advantages: Comfortable and clean rooms
Disadvantages: Food!

My partner is vegan and it was totally impossible to eat anything in any of the restaurants, except for a piece of fruit, as all of the food on offer in the restaurants, was cheap and highly processed. The hotel offer several restaurants including an Italian/Mexican diner, Steakhouse and all you can eat buffet breakfast/lunch dinner for around $10. But when we came down from our rooms one morning to have a look at the buffet breakfast, there was a huge queue. At the back of the queue, there was asign which read "waiting time at this point 30 mins". To hell with that! I would recommed not eating in this hotel if you have any special dietary requirements or care about what you are eating.... Walking around the hotel, from the casino to the shops, you get ...

Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa

Advantages: Pleasant staff, facilities, closeness to Silverstone
Disadvantages: Remoteness

the buffet as many times as you like. However, it can be difficult to get served tea/coffee. Quite a few times I've had to go without because I've been running late and not able to get a responsive member of staff to serve me. The hotel markets itself as being a spa and corporate events hotel and also makes a lot of the fact that it is located very close to Silverstone race course. I sometimes feel that there's a bit of a contradiction between being a spa and a corporate events hotel. I remember being at the hotel on Valentine's Day a couple of years ago while on a course and there were lots of couples who were staying there on one of their spa deals - most of the couples weren't particularly appreciative of the fact that they were sharing their fine dining experience with several tables of rowdy twenty somethings taking advantage of the free ...

MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

Advantages: Everything you could want under one (massive) roof
Disadvantages: Located at the southern end of "The Strip" - so a bit of a walk to some attractions...

We stayed at the MASSIVE MGM Grand for a few days this time last year. The MGM Grand, guarded by a 45-foot-tall bronze lion statue has 5,005 rooms and used to be the largest hotel in the world, a claim recently stolen by the Ambassador City Jomtien hotel in Thailand with 5,100 rooms. It's still the largest hotel in North America, although I think this will soon be stolen by George Clooney's Vegas hotel development... (While we're on the subject of large hotels, 17 of the 20 largest hotels in the world are in Las Vegas ! So even if you don't stay at The MGM Grand, odds are you'll be staying somewhere big...)
