Advantages: Cheap and right on Times Square Disadvantages: A bit on the shabby side
...Hotel Carter is often referred to as a hostel but I wouldn't go that far. Although it's not exactly New York luxury the room was en-suite and was clean and a good size, if a little dated (the carpet on the wall is somewhat different!). The Hotel didn't have a restaurant but there are plenty of places to eat nearby. If you are just after a cheap weekend in the Big Apple you can't get a much more central location than this Hotel which is just off Times Square and for the money compared to other NY hotels I think it is great value. Especially since you'll probably spend very little time in hotel room with the rest of New York to explore!...

Advantages: City with a WOW! factor Disadvantages: Can be overwhelming / tiring if you try to do too much
...New York is everything anyone could imagine about a concrete metropolis. I am not a big city person but the big apple takes your breath away. The sheer enormity of the place can be overwhelming!
The theatres are wonderful, and reasonably priced, if you do your homework. There are shops of every size and type and many bargains to be found if you take the time to look. If eating places are important then this is your city. Just about every country in the world is represented, with prices to suit every budget.
The people are as diverse as the city itself, be prepared for some straight talking...
Doing some pre-visit research will save you time and money.
Get yourself organised for the city experience of a lifetime!...

Advantages: many stores and attactions Disadvantages: confusing
...New York is a city of business. But it's also a city of tourism and
culture with it's great museums and attractions. Everybody should go
tere and try out the New York subway. The amount of different people
and places are amazing. Central park is a must. They have the cleanest
park I have ever seen and have these floral arrangements that are
fabulous. But you can't forget about shopping, it's just too hard, there's too many stores to choose from. Overall, New Yorkcity
is fantastic to visit but personnally, I find it too confusing to live
in....

If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
