We stayed here for four nights in September 2006 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We arrived at Barcelona airport at around 10.30am in the morning. We got the airport bus which took us into the centre of the city and after struggling to get our bearings; we jumped into a taxi and got it to take us direct to the hotel.
On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist who promptly checked us in at 11am - considering we didn't think our room would be ready we were made up about this. This is what you need when you have been up since 4.30am. The reception area is very open, had a seating area, and is fully air conditioned and clean.
Our bedroom was on the 4th floor. From reception there are two lifts which you can use or you can take the stairs.
We entered the room which was situated at the back of the building. On your right as you went in there was a door to a large bathroom with a bath/shower, large sink and vanity area and a toilet. Clean towels were supplied along with some nice complimentary gifts such as shower caps, shampoo, shower gel etc. There was also a hairdryer available for you to use.
The bedroom had a double bed, a large wardrobe with plenty of space for lots of clothes, two bed side tables and also a dressing table. There was also a fridge containing a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and some snacks (crisps etc).
On top of the dressing table there is a TV with satellite which also included Sky news and lots of Spanish channels. There is also an air conditioning unit fitted into the wall which we had on all the time as it was so hot! Also inside the wardrobe was safe for you to store all your valuables.
A maid service was provided everyday that made the bed and supplied fresh towels if provided.
The breakfast was a continental breakfast which was a buffet style and consisted of croissants etc, yoghurts, fruit, cereal, a variety of meats and some days there was omelette, scrambled egg and sausage - all very nice and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was very quiet all of the time and we never really heard any noise from anybody else.
The hotel was in an excellent location. The metro was across the street (literally) from the hotel and it was about a 15 minute walk to La Rambla. We didn't get the metro once whilst we were there... everyday we walked down to La Rambla and for all the sightseeing we wanted to do we got the tour bus. You can get a ticket for this which last two days, has 3 different routes which link at certain points and you can hop on and off as many times as you like. We found Barcelona was such a big city that this was ideal for us.
The walk to La Rambla was quite pleasant and I think the latest we walked back was about 11.30pm at night, and I felt quite safe.
Overall I would give this hotel 5 out of 5. We were made up with its location, friendly staff, clean modern rooms, air conditioning. and a more than reasonable price. You could not ask for much more to make your holiday perfect.
