We have just returned from a 3 week holiday at silver beach hotel. After reading many positive reviews we were very disappointed to find that the hotel fell short of these. The pool is extremely small, deep and lies directly in front of the restaurant. The service was overbearing and annoying. We were frequently moved after sitting down to eat as we had not sat at the table we sat at on the first night. They were obsessed with clearing cutlery and plates disturbing your conversation, and frequently before you'd finished eating. The beach was cleared at 5pm and there was no outside seating area. The entertainment took place at the same time as dinner so you could not enjoy either. The food was limited in variety, low quality and usually cold by the time it reached your table. Drinks orders where frequently incorrect and quite often never arrived. The staff generally looked annoyed to have any guests there as they seemed to interfere with their work. Twice i left a do not disturb sign on my door only to be phoned and told that the staff had to clean my room at that particular time even though i had said this was not necessary. The rooms were of a good standard and the location was good. All in all mauritius offered some fantastic experiences and a great holiday but i would not recommend that you explore them from the silver beach hotel
