Advantages: Great staff, hot, clean, great food and accommodation, clear blue sea Disadvantages: 12 hour flight
I have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Silver Beach Hotel, on the East Coast of Mauritius. It's a 3 * hotel, with 5 * service.
ACCOMMODATION
We arrived at Silver Beach early afternoon, tired from a 12 hour flight. We were given a warm welcome by the staff and had a lovely refreshing cocktail, whilst we filled in our registration card. Our first impression was that the hotel was a little plain and could do with a coat of paint - but that was just the corridors and the exterior of the building. The bedrooms were bright and very clean. The bed sheets and towels were changed every day and the man who cleaned our room made us smile with his swans and lilies that he made out of our towels. Our room was clean and spacious. We had a huge bed which we were grateful for - its nice to have space in bed when its so hot, no ...
Advantages: Comfortable beds, decor, staff Disadvantages: Location may not be suitable for everyone
I stayed at the Silver springs hotel during at the end of April 2009 during a work trip - the hotel is a 4* property that is located in Cork and is literally on the outskirts of the city centre as you come of the main road leading into Cork. It is a fairly large hotel for it's location with plenty of facilities and I was looking forward to experiencing his hotel.
First impressions:
As you come down the main road from Cork airport the hotel is located on the right hand side. However to get to it you must take the exit to the left hand side which takes you over the bridge and across to the hotel. This is because the hotel is built on a slight hill. So as you first spot the hotel it actually looks quite impressive and also quite modern looking with the building of a grey colour which sounds drab but, it isn't! The car park is spread ...
Advantages: Beautiful coastline, no mosquitos Disadvantages: Poor service/food, Limited facilities, Everything closes from12pm to 10am
We have just returned from a 3 week holiday at silver beach hotel. After reading many positive reviews we were very disappointed to find that the hotel fell short of these. The pool is extremely small, deep and lies directly in front of the restaurant. The service was overbearing and annoying. We were frequently moved after sitting down to eat as we had not sat at the table we sat at on the first night. They were obsessed with clearing cutlery and plates disturbing your conversation, and frequently before you'd finished eating. The beach was cleared at 5pm and there was no outside seating area. The entertainment took place at the same time as dinner so you could not enjoy either. The food was limited in variety, low quality and usually cold by the time it reached your table. Drinks orders where frequently incorrect and quite often never ...
