Simpsons of Potts Point, Sydney

Advantages: Excellent City, Clean streets, Great Transport, Loads to do
Disadvantages: Changable and Blustery in Winter, A Bit too far from Ireland

...I stayed in Sydney for over 10 months in 2003 and the hardest thing I had to do was to leave the place. Sydney is an amazing city, with so much to do you will never get bored. From the Harbour area to the beaches of Bondi - theres something for everyone. When we arrived we did the usual tourist trips, Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Trips on the Harbour Ferries, Centrepoint Tower but as time went on we found a hidden Sydney. These are areas or items in Sydney which are not on the usual tourist trail. Places like Suzannah Place in the Rocks which documents early life around 1830, and how the working classes lived. It is a living museum. Other areas of interest included Balmain, Manly, Paddington and Potts Point. ...if you prefer tickets are available at CityRail suburban stations, most newsagents on bus routes, Sydney Ferries ticket offices and Transit Shops “TravelPasses” are available for weekly, quarterly or yearly travel. These offer the best value for tourists as they allow unlimited travel on Sydney’s trains, ferries and buses. The pass covers different colour coded zones, the most popular for visitors are the Red and Green zones. Maps showing all zones are readily available from ticket offices. Purchasing a Green zone pass at a cost of A$40 for 7 Days (or A$52.50 to include return Airport Link transfers) gives unlimited travel in all Red and Green zones. Here are some trips you can make using this pass - ferries to Darling Harbour, Watson's Bay, Manly and Tarronga Zoo and buses to Bondi and Potts Point. We found all public transport to be clean... ...I am going to Sydney soon, staying in the Landmark Hotel. It's meant to be good, 5*, but i would appreciate any comments from anyone who has actually stayed there or in Potts Point generally. Also, has anyone done the Bridge climb? It's meant to be good, but I'm not sure how scary it is and how fit you need to be? Again, all comments welcome. Any good bars/restaurants? Come on restaurant/bar owners ... if you send me a recommendation I promise we will come and check you out. Can't say fairer than that can I? Also I know someone who works for KPMG out there so I'll put in a good word amongst the guys and gals there (if you want a whole load of accountants at your bar/restaurant that is) Look forward to hearing from you....
