Simply Sinclairs
Review of Sinclairs by duskmaiden

Advantages: nice building, non smoking, cheap beer
Disadvantages: selection of real ales is small

When one is asked to think of a Manchester pub, the last thing they would think of is a half timbered building dating from before the Industrial Revolution. They would more likely think of a back street terraced pub such as the Rovers Return. However Sinclair’s Oyster Bar is a lovely half timbered building dating from the 1700s which would fit nicely in somewhere like Chester or York rather than Manchester. Sinclair’s is tucked away upon New Cathedral ...
...square from the posh shops such as Harvey Nics and Selftidges. Next door is the more ancient Old Wellington Inn. It’s a lovely old building that has an interesting past. I believe it has been moved piece by piece twice once to raise its height and the second time after the IRA bomb of 1996. The first good thing about Sinclair’s is the open air area. It has a number of continental style tables that are chock a block when the sun makes it rare appearance ... Read review

Oyster bar
Review of Sinclairs by oofie

Advantages: right in the centre, outdoor seating, very cheap
Disadvantages: small choice of beer

This pub used to be in a different location prior to the M&S Flagship store being built, and all i can say for it is that by moving it, they have improved it. Its a beautiful oldy worldy pub with original architecture including beams and interior decor, complete with old photographs of past history involving the pub. It has three storeys and is very split level with nooks and crannies that your group, your couple or just you can hide in. The bar ...
...busy times like the evenings and weekends is a blessing because no matter how thick the bar is, you will get served pretty quickly. The beer is very cheap, last time i knew ( weekend of 2 may 2004 ) a pint was £1.54 so being used to the prices in London i almost choked on my pint when i received change. Although it is mostly one type of draught beer named Ayingerbrau, they do serve cider and all bottled beers. The best thing about this is that it ... Read review

...and this he finds in the wonderfully camp Roger De Bris who is only out "camped" by his assistant Carmen Ghia. The Cast The only familiar face in the cast for me was John Gordon Sinclair who played the part of Leo Bloom. Sinclair is probably best known for his performance in Gregory's Girl alongside Clair Grogan and his TV works includes Nelsons Column. At first I did not particularly warm to his performance, Sinclair took over the role from rubber faced comedian Lee Evans and at times it felt like I was watching a second rate version of Evans however as the performance wore on Sinclair came to own the role more and more and by the end of it I was not thinking about how Evans would have looked in the role. Whilst I was not totally convinced by his performance he proved an adequate stooge to the scheming and great one liners delivered by Max... Read review

...- or he shouts! They can also use the Morse code machine using the alphabetical dots and dashes guide next to it to try spelling out their name. There is also a rocking horse that sits in front of a mirror - apparently this is how cavalry were trained to take lunges with their sword at others whilst on horseback. Your children can also try this - minus the sword! By far the most intriguing section was the "Science Maze" and this is where we spent the longest time taking in all sorts. Far too much here for me to include or even touch on in any sort of detail but I will tell you about a handful of them ... Hands up those of you who recall the Sinclair C5? An invention back in 1985 by Sir Clive Sinclair an inventor who brought to us Sinclair home computers amongst other inventions and who dabbled in transport briefly. It was a battery... Read review
