If travelling in business class you earn an extra 25% of your distance flown and with first class 50% of your distance flown.

Miles can be earned in many places. You can earn them by travelling on any flight which is part of the star alliance network, Singapore Airlines flights. Once you have earned the miles what can you do with them?

Well you can use them towards any free flight with SIngapore Airlines or their direct partners or you can purchase flights on the Star Alliance network. How do you apply?

You can apply for Krisflyer via their website on http://singaporeair.com or at www.krisflyer.com. After completing the registration process a nice welcome pack is dispatched with your membership card and the relevent literature on how to earn and redeem miles. If you have children under 12 then they can join the young explorer club and gain a special pack and membership card.

Once you have started to earn miles and accrue them you can work your way up the status ladder which gives you more benfits such as prioroty check in and access to club lounges and so on.
