About a year ago, I had to stop in Singapore Airport for five hours. It was two in the morning and all were nackered, but we couldn't help taking in the fantasticness of this place.

The airport management seem to be totally convinced that nobody can get bored at their airport. So they keep all the shops open throughout the night, and they actually only close for lunch.

You will also find that bands or music groups and choirs will turn up and play at ridiculous times. If that's not your taste, then why not visit one of the cinema points, and watch some of the latest films?

All the toilets are immaculate, and the staff are extremely pleasant. The floors are all clean, and I managed to see a woman on her hands and knees polishing a metal joint on the floor.

Next to the newly-refurbished VIP lounge, you will find a sort of 'internal garden.' There is a very calming mood around this place, and you can sit on one of the banches and listen to the stream trickling.

All the announcements are very clear, and are made in several languages. Information screens are up-to-date, easy to read and very clear and informative - you can't really go wrong.

The airport is very carefully thought about, and well laid out, so you will find it very easy to get around. If you're lost, then consult one of the numerous information desks.

Everything needed for disabled people is there - ramps, lifts, toilets... the airlines and the management go out of their way to make sure that it's absolutely everyone that has a good journey.

Check-In can take a while, and about 7% of flights are delayed, and you don't want to be there when that happens because people scream and scream. But unlike at other airports, there are things to do while you wait.

THere are all sorts of things at the airport - cafes, bars, shops, restaurants, cinemas and many water fountains, too. These are available all over the airport and provide some thirst-quenching in the heat!

It's a very good, easy-to-use airport, accessed with ease from the city. Passengers should have no problems finding their way around, and thanks to the airport management, they make your visit nearly fun!
