The tallest and one of the best Advantages: Rooms are spacious, Shopping mall in the hotel, Taxi availability Disadvantages: Check in takes too much time The Swissotel The Stamford hotel in Singapore is the tallest hotel in South East Asia. There are over a 1000 rooms in the hotel. The amenities the hotel offers are quite good. The rooms are spacious and the view from the higher rooms are really amazing. One can either see the other skyscrapers in the city or the harbour from the higher rooms. The restaurants offer good food. The main highlight about the hotel is the Raffles Plaza is right in the ... ...service is quite good as well. You can catch a taxi right at the door of the hotel. The main worry in this hotel is the delay in check in time. I have stayed in this hotel many a times and I have faced this issue every time. Shangri la Sinapore Advantages: Beautiful hotel, really friendly staff Disadvantages: Long walk to the shops We stayed at the Shangri La hotel for 3 nights in March 2006. I travelled in a party of 5 adults and we shared 2 rooms. We stopped over on our way to Australia as part of a 2 month holiday and we all agreed this was the nicest hotel we stayed in. The hotel was beautiful, set in gardens and has a very grand appearance, with a really nice reception area and bar, and you would expect in Singapore it is very clean. The rooms were really nice with fresh ... ...a large pool with sun loungers which is great as it was very humid in Singapore. The restaurants in the hotel were mixed, we went to the Chinese restaurant on the first night which was nice, but the other restaurants are mainly seafood so the reception staff were really helpful and recommended restaurants and booked taxis for us. A bargain-value all-rounder Advantages: High quality rooms and facilities, good value for money Disadvantages: Some way from the main attractions I stayed here on a short stop-over in early 2005. I chose the Roxy because it was both close to the airport, and the ferry terminal, and as I'd been to Sing a few times before and done the tourist sights, this would be a handy location as I was planning a day trip to Indonesia. It was wonderful after a long flight to zip straight out of the airport and arrive at the hotel in minutes, being welcomed by a courteous doorman, and entering into a cool, ... ...impressively spotless, with some chic leather sofas and a gaggle of efficient porters and receptionists. The room was equally as welcoming and pristine, and seemed to have been recently furbished. The only downside was the size. As we were a party of three, they had squeezed a camp bed in between the regular twins, which made it feel a little cramped, and us feel a bit like sardines while we slept. Holiday Inn Park View Singapore Advantages: Location, breakfast, pool Disadvantages: Poor views Stayed here in March 08 and April 06. The hotel is in a good position just off Orchard Road. However, don't expect any great views as it has buildings on three sides and a freeway on the other. Bathrobes and slippers were provided and a good selection of toiletries including razor and toothbrush. There was a safe in the room and fridge. Ice is available on a couple of floors. The rooms are well furnished. The bar adjacent to reception is good and ... ...time for with a really extensive selection, although the coffee was not the greatest. Can recommend the Indian restaurant in the basement for a good meal. The roof pool is very good with excellent changing facilities. Unfortunately it poured with rain the time we visited it last!
