Show Me the Light
Review of Meritus Negara, Singapore by Sonnet

Advantages: Well –located, friendly and efficient staff, well-appointed rooms
Disadvantages: Dark, lounge/bar area unsuitable for recreational gatherings

The Meritus Negara is a stone’s throw from bustling Orchard Road where you can buy anything you could possibly think of. The hotel’s central location also means that it is close to the MRT underground stations and bus stops. Taxis, however, are cheap and there is always one waiting to take you wherever you wish as soon as you step outside the hotel door. The entance to the hotel is well planned with a sweeping path for wheelchair users and people ...
...by. The Meritus Negara is ideal for people visiting Singapore on businness. It is meticulously clean, the staff are courteous and helpful but the lounges are somehere you pass through to get to your room or to leave the darkness and step into light, lively yet safe, excitement of Singapore. ... Grand Central Singapore
Review of Hotel Grand Central, Singapore by putjek

Advantages: in the center of singapore
Disadvantages: old hotel

...ago, I stayed in this hotel for one night. From the picture, it looked comfortable and nice, but when I saw the real hotel, I was not happy with it, especially because I paid quite a lot for staying in this hotel. Maybe because the hotel is located in the main street of Singapore, so we need to pay high price for staying here. The room of the hotel was somewhat old, you can smell it in the room when you enter the room. Since it was old hotel, the ... Read review

Holiday Inn Park View Singapore
Review of Holiday Inn Park View, Singapore by rmayor

Advantages: Location, breakfast, pool
Disadvantages: Poor views

Stayed here in March 08 and April 06. The hotel is in a good position just off Orchard Road. However, don't expect any great views as it has buildings on three sides and a freeway on the other. Bathrobes and slippers were provided and a good selection of toiletries including razor and toothbrush. There was a safe in the room and fridge. Ice is available on a couple of floors. The rooms are well furnished. The bar adjacent to reception is good and ...
...time for with a really extensive selection, although the coffee was not the greatest. Can recommend the Indian restaurant in the basement for a good meal. The roof pool is very good with excellent changing facilities. Unfortunately it poured with rain the time we visited it last! The hotel is convenient for public transport, but taxis are really cheap. Service is good and we found the staff helpful. On our last day we left late afternoon, but ... Read review

Singapore - the Hotel 81 chain
Review of Hotel 81 - Gold, Singapore by webfoot

Advantages: Cheap, clean and safe
Disadvantages: Not for the faint-hearted if you don't like the real world

...mean to stay in a Hotel 81 hotel. I was planning to be in transit through Singapore at my own expense for a day or so.I tried three four-star special offers. The first two came back after about 12 hrs to inform me that their hotel was full on the dates in question. The third hotel was also full but offered me a hotel, Hotel 81 Geyland on Lorong 20, which they recommended for a cost of about £20 per night. Time was a bit tight ,but the photo looked ...
...in the year. This hotel is not for seekers of de-luxe accommodation. The rooms are completely basic and quite small. My room had an air-conditioner (which did not cost extra to use), a small bathroom with toilet and shower and a welcome bag with toothbrush and paste etc in it. It was spotlessly clean and quiet (I had asked for a quiet room which was unusual as we shall see later. ) It also had asmall UK Channel colour TV and Internet connection ... Read review

Reliable up-market hotel
Review of Pan Pacific, Singapore by JackieLittle

Advantages: Centrally situated
Disadvantages: Can be a little confusing to find your. way around initally

Stayed at the Pan Pacific in March 2007. We found it extremely comfortable, the staff were very polite and helpful, sometimes hilariously so!. On the day of our arrival, we had only been in the room for about half an hour when a young man knocked on the door. He wanted to check the room, but didn't seem to understand that we had only just arrived. We let him in (it was easier), and he looked around, then went into the bathroom and folded the toilet ...
...The pool area is very pleasant and comfortable. As we lay on our sunbeds, a little maid appeared with complimentary bottles of water and fruit. There were also magazines, clean towels and free sun creams to use. The hotel is connected to the Marina Shopping Mall through a door on the second floor. If you aren't going out in a taxi, then you don't use the front door, it leads on to a service road, very confusing! Food and drink is fairly expensive, ... Read review
