Mention Singapore and the usual tourist attractions spring to mind: Orchid Road, Sentosa, Night Safari , China town, Little India..... What about Kusu Island?? That's something new and unusual..... Kusu island is very quiet thoughout the year except for the nineth month in the lunar calendar. Legend has it that a turtle turned itself into an island in order to save two drowning sailors, one chinese and one malay. The scenery is very pretty with all the coconut trees and deep blue water surroundings. Think Sentosa without the man-made bits. There are plenty of tortoise on the island and there is a Chinese temple and a Malay shrine on the island. There is also a market which sells 'Feng shui' goods and a food court. To get to Kusu island during the nineth lunar month, you can purchase tickets from Clifford Pier. A return ticket costs $10. Tickets for sunday need to be pre-booked, as it's pretty packed on the ferry. If you want to go to Kusu island at any other time of the year, should head to World Trade Centre for ferry service, but beware, the ferry service is pretty limited.
