Advantages: no enclosures around animals, feel much closer to animals Disadvantages: a long and tiring day

There's no cages around any of the animals so everything is free and it's great not to have fences between you and them. The white Bengal tigers are the most amazing - there's just a moat and a vertical hill in between you and I got some great pictures of them being fed and playing in the water without the annoying wire/fence in the way. The oranutangs swing over your head as you walk past and there's other animals like huge lizards and big birds just walking past you on the path. There's shows and talks on throughout the day and a big stadium where you can watch the elephants doing tricks. There's also a train that takes you around the park and picks up/drops off at different points and I'm sure you'll need this as it's a long and tiring day!
It's a bit out of town but not too difficult to get there with bus services to the zoo or mini vans waiting outside the station where you get a deal on the zoo and the transport.
This is a must see thing to do if you are in Singapore. You'll never want to go to a normal zoo again!
Advantages: welcoming, diverse and very family friendly Disadvantages: little escape from the heat, pricy for whole family
We've been several times and never tire of the attraction. there is so much to see and so many interactive moments that there is always something new to see. Everyone else we have taken has also loved it. Unlike most zoos this one seems very animal friendly and natural. The animals are not kept in cages but wherever possible natural barriers (like moats) are used to keep visitors safe and animals happy. It is very much a learning environment as well ... ...habitats and breeding programmes run by the zoo
Monkeys roam free and the keepers walk about with certain animals (e.g cubs) letting visitors play with them and ask questions. My own personal favourites are the white tigers and the bird shows. THe walk in enclosures are great for showing animals in their natural habitat and can't be beaten for awe and beauty.
The easiest way to get there is by bus from your hotel or taxi. Also the food inside can ...

Advantages: Lots to see and do Disadvantages: Long way to go
, from scones & jam to dimsum ? they had to roll me out of there afterwards!
Some of the other day trips include a trip into Malaysia (visit to a fishing village and rubber plantation), a day trip to Batam (an Indonesian island) or a visit to the SingaporeZoo (which is more like a game reserve in miniature).
I would recommend Singapore as an interesting stop over for those long haul flights to South Asia or Australia / New Zealand ? good fun, but not really worth a special trip! ...
Advantages: Clean, multi cultural Disadvantages: Humid
has an aquatic park full of hydro-slides and pool, which are really exciting. There are slides that you go in boats down, simulating rapids, speed slides that you go on mats down and the usual scarifying and horrifying twisters. But one of the best and definitely the most relaxing attractions is the stream, which slowly drags you around the whole park on a rubber ring.
JURONG BIRD PARK
Another great animal attraction. The highlight for me was having parrots sit on my arms and shoulders as I got my picture taken. Lots of colourful parrots, flamingoes and other rare birds.
We also visited the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the SingaporeZoo. If you are an animal person, I highly recommend you go to the Singaporezoo. It is very different and a lot more interesting than other zoos namely London Zoo and other zoos in England.

Advantages: Loads to see and do! Great for shopping and cheap food. Disadvantages: Humid and touristy. Watch out for rip-off merchants!
- for around £20/night for twin share you get a 'First Class' hotel room (nothing too fancy but not bad either), unlimited free rides on the SIA Hop-On bus (which circles most of the main attractions in Singapore every half hour or so) and free passes including the SingaporeZoo, a River Boat Tour, the National Orchid Garden, the Jurong Bird Park and several museums. I believe the hotels also offer 50% discount on food for SIA customers, though we didn't take advantage of this.
Clarke Quay is amazing at night - more neon than Soho or Kings Cross. Though we were a bit worn out to really take advantage of the nightlife there are scores of restaurants, pubs and discos all along the promenade (including a 'Hooters', for the pervy blokes out there). Market stalls and small eateries abound late into the night, so even if you're not in the mood to party ...
