Sirenis Playa Imperial, Ibiza

I visited the Playa Imperial on a half board basis in August 2005. The area of Cala Llonga is completely different to any preconceptions you might have of Ibiza as being an 18-30s style holiday.

The hotel and the beach are situated in a small and quite peaceful cove of the island. The hotel itself is on a slight hill, and only about 30 seconds walk from the sandy beach.

My first impressions of the hotel were all favourable. ...
...but the staff were friendly and the rooms had everything you would expect, a TV, air conditioning and a reasonably sized ensuite bathroom.

The buffet meals were also very good, there was a large amount of choice and again, although you don't expect luxury food, I was impressed with the selection, especially for myself as a vegetarian. My first impressions of the hotel were all favourable. Its a three star hotel so you don't expect luxury, but the staff were friendly and the rooms had everything you would expect, a TV, air conditioning and a reasonably sized ensuite bathroom.

The buffet meals were also very good, there was a large amount of choice and again, although you don't expect luxury food, I was impressed with the selection, especially for myself as a vegetarian. The only negatives were that food was often repeated a few days in a row, and also you have to get to meals quite early if you want a bigger choice, as towards the end of the night there wasn't much left. It could also be a bit difficult to get a table if you went in at peak times.

As we were on half board, we also ate out in town everyday, and even though Cala Llonga is quite small, we always found a different restaurant with good food everytime.

As for the hotel pool, it was quite small for the number of people in the hotel, and it can be very difficult to sit down anywhere. Personally, I preferred sunbathing and swimming on the beach, although that could get slightly busy too. We did go at peak season though, so it would probably be a bit better at other times.

The resort of Cala Llonga has all the amenities you could want, a small supermarket, several shops, restaurants, bars, internet cafes and a doctors. It is however still quite small, and in UK terms it is definitely more of a village than a town. There's a bus stop only about 2 minutes walk from the hotel, and boat rides are also run from right next to the hotel.

The hotel's definitely not geared for the 18-30s style market, although it is very easy to get to some of the bigger resorts if you want to see a bit more of the nightlife. But almost everyone we saw at the hotel were either couples, families or elderly people, who the area is probably more geared towards.

The lack of any entertainment at the hotel was disappointing, but there is another hotel in the same company that is literally next door to the Playa Imperial, so we would walk over there whenever we got bored.

Overall, the hotel was of a very good standard, the staff were polite, and the resort was quite peaceful, but still with things to keep you occupied and a beautiful beach. I'd recommend this mainly to families, or to people who want a relaxing holiday and who don't mind travelling to see the real sights of Ibiza.
