Seaview Country Club

Location: Seaview country Club is located 30 minutes from Ibiza Airport and about 3 miles from the lights of San Antonio. Puerto De Torrent is a small area of which the main drag is about ¾ of a mile long with plenty of bars and shops on both sides of the main road which takes you to San Antonio. Ibiza is seeing an overall of the main roads at the moment and there are lots of diversions to and from San Antonio and Ibiza Town so take care driving or use the public bus service which is very good and cheap to use.

Hotel Seaview Country Club: First impression is always a good sign and on entering the main reception you are greeted with a lovely marble reception area which is very clean and air conditioned. The staff are always greeting and always very helpful. You will find a good seating area with 4 telephone booths and a cash machine. There is also a information pc that you can print out maps of Ibiza and find information on most things you are looking for regarding travel and tourism, this facility is free. Along the main corridor there is a lovely bar with nice posh seats and is basically a lounge type area, on a night there are various live singers on playing relaxing type of music, nothing too heavy. There is a computer room with 4 pc's which are 2 Euros for about 15 minutes. A games room is next with a few arcade games which always seems to be in use, plenty of kids playing those racing games and shoot em ups. The large dining hall follows which is quite inviting at first glance. Then there is the large indoor bar which is very big with lots of seats and a large stage at the front.

Accommodation: Seaview has a self catering and half board accommodation, the main block is 3 stories high with a lift service for those who cannot manage the stairs, the self catering blocks have 1 flight of stairs. We had a self catering apartment, but we upgraded to half board the second week of our holiday. On entering the apartment they look very nice, all white walls and very clean. You have a lovely bathroom with bath, shower, large mirror, wash basin and fitted air dryer. The toilet is separated and quite small with a b-day, the only problem we found is that the toilet does not have a window and no extractor, so it can get a bit smelly if you have a bad tummy especially with no way of getting rid of the smell. There is ample of hot water infact we never ran out and the shower is lovely and soothing. The kitchen is very small, there is no work area if you like cooking, you have a microwave oven a 2 ring hob and a fridge. There is plenty of crockery for 4 people, you do not have a kettle. The main room is split with an arch with 2 single beds and a large wardrobe which contains your safe, this costs about 30 Euros but you get 10 back when you give your key in. There are a couple of bedside cupboards and a dressing table. The other half of the room consists of 2 single bed sofas which are in a L shape, if you are longer that 5 foot your feet meet at the bottom and can be quite uncomfortable. A tv set sits at the end, but do not get excited, the tv shows Spanish channels and you only have 1 English channel. The channel in English is from Sky Tv so it depends on what channel is on at the time. Usually ITV or BBC, however, if there is cloud cover the English channel does not work, we found it went off at about 7-30 pm every night, so no Corrie or Eastenders. There is an air conditioner but it only works in July and August, on a night we found it quite stuffy and we had to leave the patio doors open. We had a downstairs apartment so when we opened the pation doors we were straight out side to the pool area.

Pool Area: The pool area is quite big with a small baby pool and a big main pool, the main pool is kind of like a big U shape, from shallow to deep. The shallow end has a painted bottom with is properly blue paint mixed with sand, this is quite rough, and can graze your knees if you slip. The area around the pool is also quite slippy so be careful as you walk around in bare feet. The area is surrounded by sun lounges and there is not enough to go around. You are not allowed to put towels on in a morning as they are removed but saying that I never saw any get taken off. There is 2 pool side bars that sell drinks and snacks. Also a large stage which has out door shows every night. There is also 2 or 3 life guards on duty during the day.

Activities: Airtour reps do plenty of activities during the day, from water polo, volley ball, basketball, darts and pool. They also do shows on a night, bingo and quiz shows. We found the shows quite boring and drawn out. Bare in mind that the reps are not professional singers but it is their job to entertain, the girls were very good and not bad singers but the lads tried too hard and for me spoilt the shows with their awful voices. At 10pm professional acts come on each night, but again we never found anything that suited us, there was a tribute Beatles band on one night, Spanish dancers another, an Abba tribute on another. Kids have plenty to do with the reps and will not be bored.

Food: We ate out the first week and had some nice meals, I would recommend The Little India on the main road way, it was the best Indian food I've tasted, and a 70 Euros for a family of 4 it was excellent. Most of the other cafes have the usual food you get abroad, some is nicer that others.

The second week we upgraded to half board. We found the food at Seaview not very good at all. Breakfast had the usual items, boiled and fried eggs, sausages, grilled tomatoes and Spanish bacon, which in not as good as English. Plenty of bread is available but the toaster is so slow. And the bread needs to go though twice, to the upset of the long queue behind you. There is fresh orange juice and coffee and tea. This is all served at 7-30 to 10 am every morning. Tables are often slow to be cleaned so get in early.

Dinner is served at 7pm until 9pm. Remember this is a 4 star hotel but the food is not. There is 2 selections of soup and it certainly is not homemade. Dinner is set out like a buffet, and you help yourself to what you want. You are not allowed to take your own drinks in and there is no free water. You can buy drinks and water in the dining room. There is plenty of salad stuff such as coleslaw and potatoe salad, and all the usual items tomatoes, beetroot etc. The hot food is plain and not very tasty for a 4 star hotel, there is a grill which serves chicken and lamb chops and burgers, The burgers are on every night for the kids along with fish fingers and chicken nuggets. The cooked vegetables are from frozen and the items on offer do not tempt you at all. Out of 6 nights we struggled to have a meal that you could save 'I enjoyed all that'. If you look around you will see plenty of plates half eaten. The sweets are the same, just plain and not very tempting. Basic cheesecake and sponge cakes, along with jelly and ice cream fresh oranges and grapes, tinned pears and tinned peaches, I wouldn't expect to see tinned fruit cocktail in a 4 star hotel. There is not much of a cheese board, and that is my favourite, but there is edam and another cheese in slices with cream crackers. There is no coffee on offer after dinner, everyone likes a good coffee after a good meal!!

Ibiza: Ibiza is defiantly a young person place, it's a 2 hour 30 min flight which is great, and you are guaranteed the sun in the summer months. San Antonio is the place to be for clubs, the clubs vary from 30 to 40 Euros, and a little bottle of water is 15 Euros. Beware of drug sellers if you have teenagers who are going night clubbing, my so is 17 and was tapped up twice on the same night by a drug seller selling cocaine. Ibiza town is not far away on the bus so give that a look to. I'm glad I went to Ibiza but I properly will not go back, too lively for me. Too many lasses getting the tops off and just being very excited. Youths being sick and making a fool of themselves.

Overall Comments: Seaview is a nice hotel, very clean and a maid service every day, which you do not see in many places, plenty of hot water which is a great bonus. The pool is excellent and clean but a little slippy. The beach is 2 minutes away and the bars are about 15 minutes walk away so not too bad. There is a bus service directly out side the hotel and a bus to San Antonio is 1 Euro 20, the bus leaves every hour. The only down side is the food, I would not recommend half board. For a 4 star hotel the food lets it down, even though the hotel is 4 star what is that compared too? Kids will love the place loads for them to do, there is a gym and a Jacuzzi. For me the rep shows were boring and often like pulling teeth, so get out and come back for the main shows at 10pm. The music plays until 12 midnight so if you are an early sleeper you will not get any rest until then. After midnight it can still be noisy with drunks coming in and singing, all the usual holiday fun.

ACCOMMODATION AND CLEANLINESS 9/10
FOOD 2/10
LOCATION 8/10
FUN AND ENJOYMENT 8/10

WOULD I RECOMMEND: Yes but only self catering.

We stayed there 16 June 06 until 30 June 06.

if you read any comments on most holiday review sites you will see most people give this place a bad review. sell catering is fine though, just stay away from the half board.

Gosh this place has changed....We stayed in 2001 and loved it so much we went back in 2002. They must have changed the caterers as the food was divine then with treats such as fresh muscle soup and huge poached salmon or joints of meat. The kids section wasnt burgers and nuggets...just smaller portions of the amazing choice of adult dishes. I was thinking of going back....dont think I will bother now :-)
