If you're visiting Dubai, a land of sun, sea and sand, you can now add snow to the list! What could be more fun than taking a couple of hours to practice your snow plough and boarding jumps than a couple of hours in the snow? It's worth the 160dhs (about 20 pounds) for adults just to be cold for 2 hours!

It's a great family fun thing to do. For smaller children there is the snow park complete with icy slides and sledges and for those feeling braver they can head onto the ski slope. Ther te are 2 main slopes, one of which they rate as a black run, but to be honest is not too difficult. There is a proper ski lift to take you to the top of the 'mountain' so you can get your breath back before launching yourself down again.

All your clothing is providing for you - pants, jackets, boots and even socks! Only thing you need to provide are gloves and hats. These can both be bought cheaply at the their shop.

If you are just a visitor be prepared to be fascinated by the sights you will see. Nationals from the UAE in their long white dish dash in the snow park wearing the special long black padded jackets they are provided with, children experiencing snow for the first time and local ladies in their black abaya's throwing snow balls! A cultural feast for the eyes!

And when you can ski no more and need to warm up numb hands, there have a great coffee shop that serves piping hot chocolate.
