We travelled as a family group of 17 ranging from the yougest 15 months to Tommy at 82 years, all had a great time. MAY 2006
We stayed at the GREEN MEADOW Studios in TROULOS and would recommend these to any family group.
The studios are spacious and have what you expect in Greece, fridge & two ring cooker, but they did have plugs for the sinks.
The studios were cleaned every day including Sundays, and towels, although small changed often.
The pool was cleaned everyday.
Thay have a beatiful setting being surrounded by Green (in May) hills, but still only 8 mins walk to a great sandy beach.
The bus stop number 19 is only 2 mins away and serves Skiathos Town one way and Koukoukarnaris Beach the other. Runs every 30 mins in May getting to every 15 mins in high season, also runs up to midnight.
So marks for the Studios 9 & half out of 10.
Marks for the Island and beaches 10 out of 10.
Where we ate in TROULOS

I have given the Tavernas marks out of 10 and brief reasons.
ANGELIKA scores 0 out of 10, worst food worst prices, Kleftico was 4 scraggy pieces of lamb mixed with undercooked vegs, say no more.
SUNRISE scores 7 out of 10, food good, price reasonable and good swings, slides seesaws for children.
GREEN MEADOW scores 5 out of 10, this is would be higher if you are looking for place with children, good grass area with toys, but food average prices good.
PARODISI (on the Troulos Junction) scored well for Hospitality, 3 free half litres of wine plus Brandy and Ousos, but food has a massed production feel, Kleftico was again put together in foil just before table instead of cooking together for a long time so mark 7 out of 10.
Cap Nickos Amarulosa (spelling not to good, next to Zorbas. Scored 8 out of 10 very good with the young children saw to there wants first. Food good and prices good.
NECTAUR & AMBROSSIA mark 10 out of 10 best Greek Sophisticated menu on the island and prices good (approx 20 Euros per person for food/drimk and good tip).
KALYBI (the L is actually inverted V) as the Greeks say the BEST COMES LAST, marks 20 out of 10 it was that good. The best Traditional Greek Taverna in Troulos, they coped very well with us when we were 14 Adults and 2 Children, Bill total 171 Euros (13 per adult) for all Wine 4 Liters, 2 bottles Retsina, several Mythos and drinks for children) good selection of starters. You know its good when the menu is small and family run.
If I go back to Skiathos I would be tempted to eat here every night.
Also a word for the VICTORIA Bar they do Quiz and Buffet on Monday 5 euros, dont eat before the buffet , it was that good, we filled our plates more than once. And Wednesday they do Greek Night for 9 Euros again so much food bar b qued before your eyes. lamp chops, Pork Steaks, Sausages, Chicken Fillets, Meat on skewers
Tips for outings.

Skiathos is so small dont book expensive tours with your rep.
We went to the Monastery at far end of Island taxi for 4, 20 euros each way. The trip would have been 140 euros for us 4 so saved 100 euros over reps tour and we made our own timetable.
Go to Harbour and book your own ferry tickets to visit Skopilos, again as above much cheaper and have more flexabilitry. In fact I would advise if possible go to Skopilos for 2-3 nights and Alonisos for at least 1 night to dine at the Top in the Old Town with fantastic views.
Beaches on Skiathos are great never known so many good sandy beaches on one greek island.
