I went to Algeria two years ago and it was the best experience ever. It is situated in the north-western part of the African continent, near the Mediterranean Sea. The scenery consists of a beautiful sandy desert called the Sahara, which is long the Mediterranean Sea. It is the most beautiful sight you will ever see.
I went on a big tour around the Atlas Mountains where the sights are unbelievable to say the lease. Where the mountains divide Algeria into three regions. First of all is The Tell, which is Arabic for ?hill? and is so beautiful it lies along the Mediterranean. The main cities are located in the Tell such as Algiers and Oran. Algiers is a modern city with a harbour and all around it is French architecture, which looks lovely.

I am Originally from constantine in Algeria and I was born and bred there until the tender age of 8 years old, when my parent and I moved to london. And I haven't stepped a foot back until last year march '05. At first I was very wary and unsure, because algeria is not a very touristique country, but I decided to visit again to regain my lost roots. Advantages: Good Book Disadvantages: Can't think of any worth mentioning
Jason Burke gives a good account of the middle east, of Kurdish Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Algeria and the Muslim world of South East Asia.
According to the Guardian: "From Algeria to Thailand, Burke, formerly The Observer's chief reporter in the region, moves through every quadrant of Islam, drawing out profound differences between the communities. This is no homogeneous surge of Muslims massing to rise as one against the West. His vivid contacts with Kurdish, Arab and Asian Muslims reveal complex issues, inter-communal and international, that far outstrip the 'war on terror's' capacity to provide analysis or answers."
The book is well written, clear and easy to understand.
Jason Burke is also the author of Al - Qaeda: The True Story of Radical Islam. ...
