Advantages: Well run Disadvantages: Tricky to get to, holiday makers
...Gatwick is Londons second airport. It is smaller than Heathrow and handles less scheduled traffic. It is however more of a holiday airport, with plenty of charter airlines using it as their preferred London venue. It has two terminals linked by a monorail system. Access to Gatwick is a little tricky. It is well served by the Gatwick Express train from central London, but if you ask at the train station ticket office you can get cheaper fares on other trains. Situated south of London it is a good choice if you wish to visit Brighton or London, but travelling up country by road is difficult as it can take upwards of three hours to clear London.
Shopping is good with the emphasis more on the family compared to Heathrows more business focussed outlets. Gatwick flights tend to suffer a few more delays than I have experienced...

Advantages: Clean, good access Disadvantages: delays are possible
...I really like Gatwick Airport. I have been to various places around the world and nothing really gives you the sense of travelling as much as this airport does. It has good accessability to the disabled and is easily reachable from all directions from London. You must remember that this is one of the busiest airports in the world and therefore there are a lot of planes and people. Delays are common but it is easy to pass away the time by drinking or eating in one of the many shops that are nearby, located in and around the departure lounges. Car parking is fairly expensive but is understandable in such a large and boistorous area of London...

Advantages: Convinient service Disadvantages: Uncomfortable trains
...The original Gatwick express provided an excellent service. Quarter hourly services from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria and back. The trains were originally formed from ex-Intercity coaching stock and an electric locomotive. The ride was smooth, and many people enjoyed travelling this way.
At the moment Gatwick Express are replacing their old stock with new electric multiple units. Apart from looking strange, these trains are not half as good to ride in as the originals. The ride is much more rattly, and bumps are felt much easier.
In an attempt to make the service seem more up to date, Gatwick Express have reduced the quality of it. I find it more comfortable to travel by standard trains to Victoria now, rather than get the Gatwick Express that travels rougher than the standard slam-door train....
