Around four months ago I travelled to London to do a photo shoot, I was very excited as I had been out of modelling for a while but I was also very nervous as I had not worked with the photographer before and was staying in a hotel I had never used before also. The shoot went very well and the hotel I stayed in was beautiful so all was good in the end.

The hotel in question was the Sleeping Beauty Hotel; Ciao has called it the sleeping beauty motel but it was definitely hotel on the brochure, anyway never mind. The hotel is situated in Leyton which is in the East of London, so not a hotel you would be likely to use for a typical sightseeing holiday to London as you are well away from the attractions.

Nearby the hotel is a KFC, a Wetherspoon`s bar, a Tesco store and a closed down Woolworths, so nothing too exciting but this was the hotel the photographer had chosen for me as it was close to his studio and my friend and I who stayed here really liked it.

The hotel has 93 rooms in total and the one we stayed in was a twin room which was very clean if not so well decorated, it had the usual coffee and tea making facilities but not much else, well perhaps that’s a bit unfair as it did have a TV and free WI-FI so really what else could you need. Our room as well as all the others was an en-suite room and the adjoining bathroom and toilet were very well kept.

The hotel has a 24 hour reception area which was always staffed by a friendly face and was comfortable and welcoming without being anything too special. There was a relaxing lounge area in the hotel which had a pool table and a juke box and friendly bar staff, drinks were reasonable priced and we were always made to feel welcome.

The hotel had its own car parking which is always a good thing especially in London or other major cities, the only down point to the hotel for me was that it did not have its own restaurant. Although there was a choice of places to eat nearby it is not the same as being able to wander downstairs in your slippers in your own hotel and grab a bite to eat (or is that just me that does that)?

The cost of our twin room for three nights was taken care of by my photographer but I have done a bit of research and the average room price is £40 per room per night which for London is not half bad. This is only a two star hotel so do not expect all the luxuries of a higher rated hotel but what you do get is friendly staff and a clean environment to spend your time in and for me that is pretty much good enough for 40 quid a night.

Whilst all the decor is a bit dated and the overall look of the place might not appeal to some people, I found it very comfortable throughout. The beds were very comfy and I got a great nights sleep and the rest of the hotel left me feeling comfortable and relaxed too making it a great stay and a hotel I would therefore recommend to others looking for a simple room for the night!
