As my son is going away for a for days on a school trip, I have had to drag out his suitcase, so I thought I may as well review it before I pack it.
Dunlop trolley case
The suitcase I purchased is black with a splash of royal blue around the edge. It is the second smallest size in this particular Dunlop range marked as 20 inch it actually measures 16 by 22 inches. On the bottom of the suitcase are two little black wheels and two little black stoppers, so it stands up, correctly supported. On the top is a strong and sturdy black plastic carry handle that sports a black plastic name and address tag, along with a pull out handle which can be pulled and locked into two different lengths, at it's longest, the handle fully pulled out measures 17 inches. Down the side of the case, in the centre there is another black plastic carry handle which again is strong and very sturdy. Along the other side of the case are four big silver studs, which again are there to support the case, should it be stood up sideways. On the front/top of the case depending on which way up you stand it there is a large zipped pocket that sports a Dunlop silver nameplate.
So to the top of the case, where there is a zip that opens practically the whole way round to enable the case to expand slightly, allowing more room inside. Then there is a double zip that goes far enough round the top of the suitcase to allow it to open up to reveal the inside of the case that sports a soft black waterproof material which says Dunlop in white writing all over it. On the inner lid of the case is a black mesh zipped pocket, which is more or less the total size of the lid itself. The actual inside of the case has two elasticated belts, to secure the contents and keep what's inside of the case in order. The lining also has a zip of it's own so it can be removed, I guess this must be for washing, but I'm not sure as I've never took it out.
I purchased this suit case from Sports Direct and it only cost me £7.99.
Opinion and experience
My reason for purchasing this case was for my son, he was going away for a week with school and I didn't have a case that was suitable for him to take. I didn't want to spend a great deal because to be honest, I didn't expect the case to survive a week away with my son. I was a little disheartened however to find the lining coming away from the side, which I had to sew, but to be fair it was very cheap so I didn't mind that much. I was surprised at how much I could fit into the case, the size is very deceiving, I managed to pack enough clothes for my son for the entire week and more besides, including a wash bag containing all the things he would need for the week along with a couple of disposable cameras and several other bits and bobs.
The case was very easy for my son to maneuver around, taking into consideration he was 11 years old at the time, he managed very well with the case. To watch him pulling it around, I noticed it didn't veer to the side, like I know a lot of these cases tend to do, especially the cheaper ones.
So now almost two years later he is using it to go away yet again, but this time it's only for a few days and I know he will have more than enough room to hold all he needs even if is clothes do seem so much bigger now.
I am pleased with this case and glad I bought it, in all honesty I didn't expect him to be still using it by now but it has stood the test of time and I'm very pleased with it. When it does eventually lose the will to live I will more than likely purchase another one, maybe a bigger size next time.
I'm giving this case 4 stars, I've only knocked one off because the lining was coming away when I bought it.
