This isn't the sort of place for vegetarians, those queasy at the sight or smell of blood, or others of a sensitive persuasion. These things are usually easier if you grew up with them. If you want o buy bulk, want something as fresh as it gets - all that and a at a good price, tis is the place to buy meat.

St. Bartholomew the Great is the second oldest church in the City of London - the oldest one exists in the Tower. It was built by a man named Rahere who had a vision of Bartholomew on his way to Rome. In the vision he was told to build a church, which on coming home he did - and the product of which, we can partially see today.
It's located right next door to Smithfield (the famous Londonmeatmarket). The nearest London Underground stations are Farringdon or Barbican and the closest bus stop is the terminus for the number 56 bus which stops outside Barts hospital - also established by our man Rahere.

Well I never. Here?s me, a confirmed carnivore if ever there was one, writing a review of a vegetarian restaurant! Let me explain. My employer recently relocated to the heart of the City of London just yards from Smithfields (the meatmarket) oddly enough. So, the positioning of the restaurant is slightly odd perhaps or might just be damned good marketing? Who knows?
What I do need to tell you is that it is Absolutely Fabulous. I?ll freely admit to being one of those people who had always though vegetarian food was boring. And yes I?m probably lacking in both cooking ability and imagination.
