I've now been to Smiths for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and think its great. The location, near the City and in Clerkenwell means that its ideally situated to meet people in that part of London without being stuck ib a typical city bar.
Breakfast is really good value and straight-forward and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The restaurant's upstairs serves food on the hearty side, well executed and interesting. Service is quick and friendly and both carnivores and vegetarians have left happy. Starters are on the lighter side (have had great asparagus / gnocchi) and main courses hit the mark with dishes ranging from precisely cooked steaks through to rabbit (normally not a favourite but succulently cooked here).
Bar on second floor gets busy on Thursday / Friday but service excellent
