I read a lot in my spare time and am trying very hard to learn Welsh, although I really wish I had learnt when there were still Welsh speakers in my family.I love cricket and rugby and support Kent and Wales respectively.

I have never been on the Railway, so I can't comment on the journey. I love snowdonia and went holiday again last November, but I had never been on the Scenic Railway and got in the car quite excited.
When we got to the station there were huge crowds and we waited in line to buy tickets. We were told there were no more tickets for that day and only a few left for the next day. As we had driven for over two hours to get there we ate lunch at the cafe, which was clean and reasonably priced. The gift shop was also good.
So my advice is phone in advance!
The Slate museum over the road is fantastic, with a train around the lake, so nip over there too.

Popular attractions such as the railway are best booked in advance at busy periods, but how? Day trippers would be in the same boat. At least if they knew how to book it would save them a wasted journey.
