Snugbury's is located in Nantwich, probably around 25 minutes away from my home town of SToke on Trent and is a much deserved drive for an extremely tasty ice cream. Its an ideal stop off for passers by and gets very busy during the summer with passers by wanting to sample the delights of their ice cream. I have queued for 45 minutes ... ...not able to eat the original ice cream which I think is fantastic that everyone can experience the Snugbury's fantastic ice cream.
Its definitely worth a stop, whether summer or winter, try it for yourself and i'm sure you will like it as much as I do. ... more
I had never heard of Snugburys until about 18 months ago when I was dating a guy who asked me if I had ever had a Snugburys ice cream and when i replied no, I was told that I had never lived. Surely ice cream isn't the best thing in the entire world to comment I hadn't lived, however when I had the Snugbury's experience I can understand why people rave over it and they do.
I have queued for 45 minutes during the summer to get served, its that good. Surprisingly during the winter also, people always stop off, queues are never as long, however whilst you may sit in your car eating your ice cream, numerous cars come and go and thats when you realise that the reputation of their icecream is so good. It is signposted from the road a mile or so before you actually get there and to be honest I have never noticed it before or I have thought to have stopped. SOmething I will never forget to do from now on.
The business began in 1986, in a farmhouse kitchen where the family made ice cream for friends and family. It progressed on from there and they decided to start to make their own Jersey Ice Cream. Now within the premises they have their own shop within there home where they sell some of the best great tasting flavours that have ever been made.
The best ice cream I had ever had before was from Torquay, Cornish ice cream, now I don't have to travel that far. The amount of flavours that they make is great and there is something available for everyone, it doesn't matter whatflavours you like or don't, you are sure to find something you like. Flavours consist of some of the following:
Banana Caramel Clotted Cream Death by Chocolate Dutch Chocolate Vanilla Chocolate Brownie White Mountain Mint Choc Chip Turkish Delight Cappuccino Coffee Honey Comb English Toffee Cherry Blizzard
These are just a short variation of the different flavours that they make. Prices are very good value too, you can have a cornet with three ample scoops of various flavours for just over £2.00. Within the farm you can also purchase the tubs to take home with you, which I always make sure that I have a little room in my freezer to accommodate these whenever I go.
The flavour is too die for, extremely creamy, however the flavours are great and the combination of both the flavour and creamy does make it a taste sensation that makes you want to keep going back for more. My favourites have got to be Cherry Blizzard, Honey Comb and English Toffee. I have tried different flavour however always go back to these. The toffee and the honeycomb blend in together and it doesn't really put you off that you have various flavours within the ice cream. Its delicious.
For those of you that have a sweeter taste and like something tangy, they also do their own range of fruit sorbet. I have never got around to having this, but surely one day soon I will as I am a little partial to sorbet. They also have every aspect covered, anyone diabetic, they have made ice cream to accommodate people who are not able to eat the original ice cream which I think is fantastic that everyone can experience the Snugbury's fantastic ice cream.
Its definitely worth a stop, whether summer or winter, try it for yourself and i'm sure you will like it as much as I do.
Advantages: Variety of Flavours, Reasonable prices, Suitable opening Hours Disadvantages: Not much to see other than a field of cows and statues made out of hay
...Water Gardens. We had passed Snugbury's which is located on the Chester A51 outside Nantwich a few times but never stopped to take a look but this weekend I managed to persuade him otherwise, plus I was hungry.........
I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Icecream but Snugbury's is delicious, they have over 30 flavours that are constantly changing and cost GBP1.50 for a large sugar cone and 2 scoops of ice cream. I opted for the banana caramel ... ...It is free to visit Snugbury's farm and not only do they serve cones but they also sell take home tubs which are fairly reasonably priced at GBP2.50 for a 1 litre tub.
I cannot fault the choice of ice cream flavours there and the taste is out of this world but what I feel is lacking there is somewhere to sit there were two benches outside of the farm shop and whilst I was there, which was approximately 5.30pm (they are currently open until 6pm in ...
