On a recent work trip to Paris I went to see a variety of hotels - in fact I saw quite a few of the same hotel chains including the Mercure, Novotel and Sofitel and from the Sofitel chain this was one of them; Sofitel Le Faubourg.

The Hotel:
The Sofitel Le Faubourg is a luxury hotel in the heart of the city centre. A four star hotel that has a variety of room types and an elegant style it has a range of amenities to suit every type of holiday maker.

Location:
The Le Faubourg hotel has a brilliant location in terms of how of how central it is to the Champs Elysee and so not far from many of Paris' main sights and also in terms of the fact it is on a road that is not directly open to traffic unless specifically going to a building on the street. The result is a very quiet location even on front facing rooms which is quite a unique concept in itself in such a busy city!
The hotel is on Rue Boissy d'Anglas which is just a few streets away from the Champs Elysee and only minutes away from the Jardin Des Tuileries.

First impressions:
When you first arrive at the hotel you can see immediately you have arrived at a luxury hotel when you are greeted by the suited doorman. If arriving with more than just hand luggage the porter will also great you and take your luggage. As you enter the lobby the marble interior is certainly impressive and everywhere is very elegant. The staff are courteous and you certainly feel you are in a luxury hotel! Overall a very good first impression!

The rooms:
I was really impressed by the room which was a classic room type. The decor is very traditional style Parisian with a slight modern twist if that makes sense! For example the wallpaper behind the bed has the old style motif emblazoned over it which is very eye catching but the amenities in the room are modern. Thick carpets and 'My bed' bedding which are in all of the Sofitel hotels make the room luxurious and comfortable - in fact they are one of the most comfiest beds I have ever lay on and I just sank into it! The bathroom is equipped with Hermes products and bathrobes and with a range of amenities such as in room safes, air conditioning, flat screen TV, WIFI access and mini bar the room certainly has enough to keep guests happy. The room was really quiet even though on the front side of the hotel which as I mentioned is due to the road it is on and one of the best features of the room which I loved was the French doors with the little railings - when opened it was a lovely spot to sit at and relax.
All together the hotel has 172 rooms which include 6 different room types of which three types are suites. There is a classic room, superior and luxury along with a Sofitel suite, prestige suite and opera suite. All rooms have a nightly turndown service too which I always love - especially when they leave a little chocolate for you on the pillow!

Food and Drink:
The hotel has a one main restaurant, Cafe Faubourg, where breakfast is served and then also meals during the day and evening. Located just off from the lobby it is elegant and classy with a French menu. Although I did not eat in here I did take a look t the courtyard that it opens out onto where guests can enjoy breakfast if they have it included in their booking. There is also a bar in the hotel named Bar 30 which is open until 1am and also serves light snacks.
Room service is available 24 hrs a day in all room types and not just snacks but full meals should you require it.

Other facilities:
The hotel has plenty of facilities to keep guests entertained. These include a lovely little area just off from the main reception area with lots of comfy chairs and an open fire. There are bookshelves filled with a variety of books for guests to read at no charge and concierge are on hand to help with anything you might need.
I found the gym although small to be a nice feature of the hotel as first of all it was completely free to hotel guests and was equipped with some top of the range equipment. There was also a really nice men's and women's sauna area and also a set of shower and wash rooms that were decorated accordingly - the women's all white and the men's decorated in dark wood to make it more masculine! The feature I liked the most was the shower which had 4 settings which included an 'Atlantic shower' or 'Caribbean mist' - quite funky and modern!
Of course no top of the range hotel would be complete without meeting facilities and the hotel boasts two rooms which can be used for private meetings or even private dinners.

Prices:
Of course you'd expect a hotel of this standard to be quite costly and yes it's not cheap but, I personally think the rates are actually quite good for the high standard of! A classic room type if booking directly from the hotel is around £225 per night based on two people sharing and also including breakfast depending on what dates you are staying - of course it is always worth looking out for special offers and this hotel offers a variety of 3 nights for the price of 2 on selected dates which makes the rates even more attractive.

Overall opinion:
I was impressed by this hotel and vowed to return one day with my Husband for a special occasion. I loved how elegant it was and yet I didn't feel out of place like I usually do in these types of hotel! The rooms were so nice and somewhere you would definitely look forward to coming back to after a long day out walking around the city seeing the sights. The hotel has a great location and if you're looking for a luxury hotel at a reasonable cost then I don't think you'd be disappointed by the Sofitel Le Faubourg.
