Giza. Close to the hotel you can find tennis, horse riding, golf, casino, fitness centre with steam bath, sauna, jacuzzi, gym. The large lobby has a low ceiling with attractive light marble flooring. The large reception is to the right of the main entrance and there is plenty of seating available in the lobby. The coffee shop serves light refreshments and snacks during the day. The Discotheque, \"Le Mirage\", spices up the night life with music and dancing.
Advantages: location location location Disadvantages: further away from downtown
...this hotel is probably the most unique hotel in the world as it is the one which you wake u and can actually see the great pyramids from, so close that you think you can reach out and touch them!! ok not that close but you know what i mean.
we stayed here and it is literally awesome how close you are to the pyramids, waking up and seeiing them in their glory, was fantastic. so in this respect, it is a fantastic place to stay.
my advice would be that if you plan to come to cairo for a couple or 3 days from your holiday base n egypt, then split cairo up into 2 parts. downtown where you are near the nile and the hubbub of the city. and Giza, where you see the pyramid, sphinx etc. at Giza, stay overnight in this hotel so you get the best location, at an affordable price.
downsides are that when you book, be very specific about wanting...

Advantages: so much to see Disadvantages: Pollution
...The heat, dust, density and pollution of Cairo can make life difficult, but the sights and people make up for it. The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, at the edge of the city where the slums meet the desert, are everything you have ever dreamed. The Museum of Antiquities is a jewel and a trip to the Citadel, with its views over the city, one I certainly recommend - especially at the dusk call to prayer. Don't miss the Islamic quarter. Otherwise, just soak up the streetlife. The covered bazaar is a beauty, the mosques are a haven. Taxis are the easiest way to get around, but the buses go everywhere and a metro serves some parts. All in all very different very hot but not to be missed for a holiday with a differance . The flight from the uk is about 5 hours...

...Cairo is one of those cities that is still very old fashioned at grass root levels with plenty to see and do.
The obvious sight is the pyramids and sphinx at Giza. I was shocked when I went there as you are travelling through large blocks of flats and then in the background is the Pyramids. They are massive and very impressive, and although you are not allowed to climb them its one of those places that you must have your picture taken at. The camel hire there is quite reasonable and a good way of getting about the Pyramids, another good camera opportunity. If you get a chance come back in the evening and see the light show around the Pyramids and Sphinx it is very impressive but get there early as its full of Japanese and Germans.
You must visit the Museum to see the artefacts and wealth of all the great kings that have been buried...
