Advantages: Wonderful city Disadvantages: Pollution
...it is a lovely place to visit. The city does suffer a lot from pollution and it can often be quite murky when you look up at the sky. Even given that, there are some stunning buildings situated in and around the Lyon area. There is the massive Tour Suisse, which gives us a modern element to the city. However, there is also a Cathedral and Basilica.
However, the focal point of Lyon lies at Place Bellecour. The streets that move away from this big square are lined with shops that you could easily spend a day looking around. At the heart of Bellecour stands a statue to one of the former French Kings. It also doubles up as a bit of a park and is always filled with people maybe taking some time out, walking their dog or just generally absorbing the atmosphere. There are in fact 2 rivers that run through Lyon (Rhone and Saone) and Place Bellecour...

Advantages: It's beauty Disadvantages: The pollution
...Let me tell you about my home town: Lyon. If you're hesitating as to were you want to go for your next holidays, why not consider Lyon? If you're a student who wants to learn the language, Lyon is the perfect place to do so.
It's Location:
Lyon is considered to be the door to the South. Most Europeans, if they have traveled a little bit, have been through Lyon. Perhaps you can remember the horrible traffic jam in the tunnel that crosses the Fourvière hill. Most of you probably just rejoiced when you left the city because you almost suffocated to get through it.
Lyon is not just a tunnel and a door to the South. It's a city packed with history, charm and beautiful sites to see. It's also a city that is really well located geographically. It's only two hours away from the beautiful alpine mountains. It's right on the edge...

Advantages: History, culture and good food Disadvantages: Industrial backdrop
...Lyon has long suffered being the second largest city in France, continuously having to compete with the illustrious Paris. Be warned, first impressions of Lyon are not to be trusted - the abundance of factories, (the chemical corridor,) the long, intertwined motorways full of traffic and the overbearing greyness of the buildings - give yourself a chance to discover the real heart of this city.
The 'Old Town' lies in the centre of the city, and here you will find winding, narrow streets leading you to a splendid collection of Rennaissance buildings - long since demolished in other parts of France. The landscape is really impressive, for those of you who know Paris, imagine St Germain with the terrain of Montmartre. To the west there is a stunning Gallo-Roman theatre overlooking the Saone, the city also boasts an opera house built in 1831...
