Thumbs up for Sol El Mouradi hotel, Tunisia

Advantages: on the beach, fantastic staff, clean
Disadvantages: a little bit out of the way

I visited the Sol El Mouradi in April 2005. My first holiday with my partner, I was really looking forward to it and it did not disappoint! ARRIVAL Talk about a spectacular lobby! I had seen pictures on the internet, but didn't think it would really look that grand. But it did! Marble, impressive double staircases, chrome mirrored lifts, plush seating and plants all around, I wondered if we'd really got the right hotel! Costing around £330 per person for 10 days in April, I didn't expect it to live up to its 4* status, but it really did! The porters were wearing smart red suits and were eager to take our bags and suitcases for us, and didn't expect money like the guys at the airport did! We were shown to our room and although we had requested a sea view, we hadn't paid for one so didn't get one/ The room was fine, but ...

Not so Prestige Hotel Thalassa Skanes Monastir

Advantages: Friendly, Bi-lingual Staff
Disadvantages: Poor Food leading to tummy upsets

We booked this 4 star plus Prestige deal with Thomsons last minute for £400 each, including all fees etc. the brochure describes it as superb beach front settings, high standards of accommodation & service. It IS a lovely hotel, but it seems that standards have very much been allowed to slide. It's about half a mile from Monastir airport, and to look at is stunning, but it needs a good update, for example the chairs are filthy, damp mould on the bathroom ceiling, mould in the grouting. The bedrooms as basic but good enough, we had a little TV, little fridge, very large bed, little table and chairs, decent sized bathroom. The bedding and towels were changed every day and were of a good and clean standard. We went on a half board basis which was breakfast and evening meal and we found the food to be a poor quality. We both ...

Sun is shining in Hammamet

Advantages: Location, facilities, size of rooms and the staff
Disadvantages: None really

On my recent trip to Tunisia we stayed at two different hotels - one of them was this one, the El Mouradi Hammamet. The hotel is actually located in Yasmine Hammamet and is located just across the road from the beach and is only around the corner from the local amusement park, Carthage Land. The hotel is a 5 star hotel and is sold on a either a bed and breakfast, half board or full board basis. When we arrived at the hotel it was already dark as we had travelled in on the late Tunisair flight and it was going on for about 11pm when we actually got to the hotel. The front entrance is all marble and quite wide - it was lit up with a lower light than normal and this gave the hotel a very nice look to it as it wasn't too bright! Reception: The reception area is quite large with the check in desk to the right hand side as you enter ...
