Sol Stella Maris Istrian Villas, Umag

Sol Aurora, Umag, Croatia. Like Spain, Only better.

Advantages: Beautiful country, great hotel, nice food, cheaper than Spain
Disadvantages: None Really.

My wife and I spent a couple of weeks at the Sol Aurora, Umag, in June 2007. We have been to several places around Europe, e.g. The Baleriks, Spain, Italy, but fancied something a little different. Not being a fan of flying, I usually look for places within a 3 hr flight from Leeds/Bradford, Croatia is only 2hr 20mins away, so seemed ideal. Umag itself is a very nice smallish town, with a small port, located to the north of Croatia, on the coast of the Adriatic, only a few miles from the boarder with Serbia. The locals are very friendly, the weather is similar to northern Spain, and with Croatia not being in the Euro, prices are very reasonable. Stella

Advantages: Nice Crisp Taste
Disadvantages: Can get you drunk very quickly

So its the first time you walked into a pub, your still 16 and faced the bar trying to make up your mind about what to drink. Then something suddenly hits you that maybe you should try Stella it sounds cool. That first decision came 4 years ago in a pub that no longer bears the same name, however unlike the pub my drinking habits haven't changed dramatically. One of Belgium's more famous beer exports Stella has been around since 1717 when Sebastian Artois bought the Duchy of Leuven Brewery in Den Horen and originally started brewing Stella. The brewery had been brewing beer since 1366 but really took off after the brewery was bought. The first time Stella was released it was as a limited edition for Christmas with the Stella star on the bottle to represent the Christmas Star.
