I love this restaurant and loved the whole concept behind it. The restaurant itself can feed up to 500 people at a time. The ultimate experience starts on enetering the courtyard. You have to park quite a way a way from the main doors to the restaurant and so as you walk up to the Manor House which houses the restaurant, you are actually walking past your dinner being cooked on a spit roast outside.

The meal consists of 3 courses. the first two come with a selection of pork and lamb for the meat eaters, but I can't state what the veggie option was as at the time I wasn't too bothered. The meal is served with a bottle of wine, which you get to enjoy all to yourself unless you specified that you would like a bottle of orange juice instead. The dessert was a cheesecake/ chocolate pudding. The food is nothing major to write home about and is pretty average in standard but the main attraction is the show that unfolds before your eyes before you have even been served your first course.

The show changes quite regularly but consists of a rough misture of the same variety of acts. During the time I dinned there, I watched as a ballet was performed, then we were presented with two Russian singers/ muscians who performed some traditional classics. An illusionist set the crowd a roar when he, assisted by his wife made helicopters and tigers appear and dissappear at whim. The Spanish ballet were a treat to watch perform their take on Riverdance, which was swiftley followed by the flying acrobats. they were a marvel to watch because in the dimmed restaurant they were dressed in black and so all you could see was the glow-in-the-dark paint they had rndomly coated themselves in. the highlight for me though was the Drifters, excluding 1 person, they were made up of the original lineup and belted out classics from across their career in both English and Spanish. the show finally ends with a carnival parade of models dressed as wild animals. they are a pleasure to see because they are in bright, big, funky costumes that bring a sense of Mardi Gras to Spain.

Son Amar has previously been voted European Night Out of The Year and so you know it's an event that's highly rated and ths not to be missed. The good thing about the end of the experience, is that it's not the end until you have seen the gardens. Therefore on exiting the restaurant/ Manor House you exit via the back door where you are led past an array of water features. There you are treated to a £2m laser and water show. Watching the water dance for 15 minutes might seem a little bizzare and out of this world, but it's something you have to see for yourself.

he whole dinning out experience costs approximately 30 Euros per person and includes your 3 courses, a bottle of wine and a glass of champagne with your dessert.

It's not the ideal place to visit if your wheel-chair bound as the tables are laid out in such a way that they are balancing down the stairs that lead to the stage. n the ocassion that I was there, I actually witnessed a diner pushed back on his chair a bit too far and he took down the whole of his and the next table. Unfortunately for him, he was seated quite high up and so it was a long drop on the way down. It's also not advisable to drink too much cause getting to and from the toilets is a non-event.

It is definately good value for money and even though the menu is limited, you get a great show thrown in for good measure which ensures you are entertained until the moment you drive out the courtyard you entered 3.5 hours previously. This is a must see and must dine at attraction for anyone stayi9ng in Majorca.

Son Amar is clearly sign=posted from Palma, to where it is closely situated.
