The Hotel that I stayed at was the EL Hana Residence, which was quiet and the Beach was just across the road, although having to cross a busy main road.
The EL Hana is part of a group of Hotels, opposite was the Chams EL Hana,a more liverly Hotel, and just up the Road is the EL Hana Beach Hotel, which has more entertainment in it.
The Hotel was clean and the Maid cleaned the room every day.The food was ok,being a bit small on the selections that you were offered. By the service was good, and all the staff very friendly.
If you are a single Woman don't tell the locals that you are on you own, tell them you have family on Holiday with you,as you will otherwise get pestered by the men, they are very persistant. If you walk past the shops and dont want to buy or get harrased by the shopkeepers DONT EVEN ANSWER OR SPEAK TO THEM
I know it might seem rude but if you dont say anything to them they will leave you alone,as if you do show any intrest they will not give up.
The best place for shopping is the Shopping Centre in the medina in Sousse,it has 4 floors of all kinds of nice souveniors and things to but at very cheap prices, and they dont hassle you to buy.
If you go into the souks in the medina,be careful,as there are a lot of pickpockets, and bag snatchers, who will try and get your wallet from your pocket, and try and take your bum bag off. I dont want to scare anyone into not going, but have your wits about you.
If someone comes up to you and tells you that he works at your Hotel in the Kitchen or somewhere it is not true, just tell them that you will see them back at your Hotel, otherwise they will con you.
Watch out for the 1 Euro con, someone will come up to you to ask you to change a 1 or 5 euro for the phone etc, when you get your wallet/purse out they will look /ask for change.
You show them coins that you have, and even though I was looking at my wallet all the time that this man asked me for change, when I get in the supermarket I found that somehow he had taken a 10 dina note form my wallet(about £5)
Dont take out more that you need when you go out,I used to take about 20 dina(about £10) Use the Hotel safe for your passports, flight tickets, and money.
Only change £s into dinas in small amounts at a time,I changed £20 a time.
Check the price on the menu before you order,as they will try and rip you off,as I was charged nearly £4.50 for 2 fresh orange juices at a resturant near my hotel.I was with a local person,so he was able to tell the waiter
The charge was 2.80 each juice (about £1.40 each £2.80 for the 2 juices. so he had to give me the correct change.
Taxis are cheap, but ask the price first. Tipping I gave about 1 dina (about 50p) for taxi and sometimes for service, but they do add a 10% tip in the bill.

Some good tips if you're planning to go to Tunisia but what is Sousse actually like itself? I went in 2002, to Hammammet which was lovely. I agree about the market sellers though - I always bought something because I felt sorry for them, as everyone was ignoring them! s
