A bargain spa with great views
Review of Caledon (South Africa) by VC81

Advantages: cheap, spacious, not crowded, good selection of pools and treatments
Disadvantages: car needed to get there

...in Cape Town. What makes Caledon Spa really special is that it is quite large, outside, has great views and is not very crowded, because it isn't really in a tourist area. There are a number of natural mineral pools at different temperatures to wallow in, including a large Roman style baths, which is very soothing for the muscles and nicely shaded from the sun, a small frigidarium, massage showers, and saunas. There is also a gym and lap-pool. The ...
...steps, gives lovely views of Caledon and the surrounding countryside, which you can admire while you relax in the highest pools. There are around 6 KhoiSan pools in total, the first two being very warm indeed, and one tepid pool having a jacuzzi action. The largest pool at the bottom is designed in a tropical rocky style with a waterfall, and is very suitable for children, as it is pleasantly warm and not too deep. Everything in South Africa seems ... Read review

The jewel of the ocean
Review of Two Oceans Aquarium (South Africa) by KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Lots to see, Value for Money
Disadvantages: Can be busy at peak times

The Two Oceans Aquarium is situated just off the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront on dock road. This was in walking distance from our hotel of just 5 minutes (see review on table bay hotel). I noticed that there were parking spaces located close to the aquarium and if you used the spaces behind the aquarium you could claim back your money at the ticket office. ****Admission Costs**** Adults R60.00 // £5.00 Children (4-17) R28.00 // £2.00 Under ...
...sea bed there is a Two Oceans representative on hand to give you plenty of useful information as well, I was too scared to touch anything in the pool but the kids seemed to love it!! Next you walk down a ramp which leads you onto the Holcim Activity Centre this is great for children as there was a school group there during our visit we were able to see how useful this is to the Children there was again another representative from Two Oceans working ... Table Mountain - a unique African experience
Review of Table Mountain (South Africa) by nikolo21

Advantages: beautiful; scenic; a highligt to any trip to South Africa
Disadvantages: NONE

Table Mountain is one of the Jewels in South Africa's Western Cape. It takes its name from the simple fact that on most days the mountain top, which is relatively flat, is covered in a thin layer of clouds which creates the table-like effect. The Mountain looks down upon the city of Cape Town which surrounds it. All this information, however, can easily be found on any other website. I would like to describe, briefly, my Table Mountain experience. ...
...upon the most southern tip of Africa and not only marvel at the beautiful view but also, quite remarkably, acknowledge that you are staring down upon a point in the distance where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, separating, arguably, the Western World from its Eastern counterpart - this is a truly remarkable experience. ... Klein Karoo - a small heaven(South Africa)
Review of Klein Karoo (South Africa) by kjjswart

Advantages: The attractions and the peace and quietness
Disadvantages: The temprature scan get hot!!

...which is very healthy. The Klein Karoo has lots of attractions. The main town is Oudtshoorn and most of the tourism attraction are near it. There's the Kango Caves which is a must to see. Then there are the Highgate and Safari Ostrich farms where you can ride on ostriches. On the way to the Kango caves there's the buffelsdrift game farm where you can walk with elephants and enjoy a nice meal and have a view over the buffelsdrift dam. There are also ... Read review

Robben Island
Review of Robben Island (South Africa) by vix82

Advantages: A trip well worth experiencing
Disadvantages: none

...offered the chance to visit Robben Island but I felt that it was something I wanted to experience with people that I knew as I was certain that it was going to be a daunting event. The prison was set up to hold Islamic holy men, political dissidents, pirate and murderers. By far the most famous of the prisoners was Nelson Mandela who was incarcerated on the island for 27 years for being a political dissident. The last political prisoners left in ...
...island as a wildlife sanctuary and place of pilgrimage for South African nationalism. I was immediately struck by the feeling of total entrapment. The only escape for the prisoners was across a treacherous stretch of water infested with man-eating sharks. The entrance to the prison housed the visiting block where relatives could apply six months in advance for a day pass. Prisoners were only allowed two visits a year. On the tour around the island ...
