The GREAT Karoo.
Review of Karoo National Park (South Africa) by samsurveys

Advantages: Beautiful, landscape, scenery and wildlife. Acommodation and facilities too.
Disadvantages: Its a bit out of the way.

...least one night in tHe Karoo National Park on my way from Joburg down to Cape Town. I dont think that Id ever chose a different place to stop off at. Lets start with the accommodation. Fantastic. The accommodation comprises of a number of self-catering thatched roofed chalets spread spaciously across the 'camp'. As far as I know there are larger chalets and smaller ones. Personally, Ive only stayed in the larger ones. They have 2 spacious ensuite ...
...looks out onto the spectacular Karoo landscape as well as a braai (bbq) area so that the beautiful Karoo evenings can be enjoyed outdoors. All chalets are also fully airconditioned. The park's facilities are also top class. In the main 'reception' building there is a shop, a restaurant and also an AV room. The shop sells all necessary groceries as well as a number of South African (many local to the area) curios and souvenirs. The restaurant is ... Read review

L'Agulhas
Review of Cape Agulhas (South Africa) by sharkman

Advantages: Cheap and unique day trip, can be turned into an overnight trip easily
Disadvantages: none

Cape Agulhas is home to the southernmost tip – where Africa begins and ends, it holds a mystique for both residents and visitors alike. It’s long white beaches, picturesque coastline, unique fynbos, rich bird life and interesting cultural-historical inheritance all add up to an unforgettable experience. The exact location of the southernmost point, which is about a kilometre past the lighthouse is marked by a stone cairn that was erected ...
...and Atlantic Oceans. The Cape Agulhas lighthouse is the second-oldest working lighthouse in South Africa and was built in 1848 and is 1 of only 2 buildings in South Africa to be inspired by Egyptian architecture. It now serves as a lighthouse museum as well as a restaurant. The cost of entry is about 50 pence per person. You can climb to the top of the lighthouse but take care as the ladder is wooded and very rickety, not suitable for the feint ... Read review
