Alright, Alright Alright, I know it has been ages since I wrote a review. So I hope I am not too rusty.

As some of you may know, I am still in the U.S. Navy Reserves, but I am drilling in London. So in doing this, each time I go to London for drills I have to have a place to stay, and I think I have found one of the most reasonable priced, friendly hotel on the west side of London, finally.

The Days Inn in West Ruislip, is one of the 5 sunburst hotels in the Days Inn chain. After staying in it a few times, I would have to agree that the staff and facilities are well worth there 5 sunbursts. Although I would not rank this in the Elite group with most of the Hiltons and DoubleTree hotels, for a Days Inn this hotel is top notch.

The hotel itself is located in the city of South Ruislip. It is within short walking distance of a family pub, a couple of Chinese restauraunts, a couple of Indian restaurants, a fish and chips, countless mini-marts, a Londis and Sainsburys directly across the street. Since this hotel does not have a microwave nor fridge, the convience of these little restauraunts and stores come in very handy.

Now for those needing convienent public transportation, as you walk out of the hotel to the right, the South Ruislip Tube and National Railway stations are right in front of you less that 100 meters away. A little farther down there is a mini cab service. For those that bring there own transportation, don't fret, the hotel has free car parking directly behind and to the rear of the hotel.

Okay now that we have all the little knick-knacks out of the way lets get down to business and talk about the hotel itself.

As you walk into the hotel you will instantly realize that it is not one of the old run down raggedy hotels that you normally would expect for 50-60 pounds. Instead you feel like you are entering a decently high class establishment. The hotel reception is located midway through the lobby to your right. I have always been greeted by a friendly smile and an out of the way courtesy that is hard to find, if not impossible to find, in many other hotels. After either confirming the reservation, or booking my room, they give a quick briefing of how to get to my room, and of all the amenities that the hotel has to offer.

After entering the room, you will find that it is plenty spacious with a nice amount of storage space in the closet and draws. Each room is furnished with a small table, 2 chairs, bed, television (with remote), telephone, kettle and iron. You will also find internet modem point connections with both European and American type connections.

The bed is nice and firm, not too soft yet not too hard either. I would definately say that I have slept in better beds, but then again I would have to say that I have slept in much worse. Other than that, the room has to be considered marvelous, very clean, spacious and climate controlled with central heating and air conditioning.

As for the rest of the hotel, right beside the main lobby you will find a bar stocked with most any drink you would want, open until 1 a.m. The seating area in the bar is reasonable, with the lobby serving as additional seating late at night.

Directly after you have passed the bar, you will run into Wings Restauraunt. It is open from 1700-2100 daily and also open for the free continental breakfast each morning starting about 0630. I can not comment on the Indian and Italian Cuisine they serve at night, but for the continental breakfast, it is your standard hotel breakfast. I have never seen them run out of coffee, or any other item for that matter, and the waiter/busboy ensures that each table is cleaned and presentable for the next customer within seconds of the last person leaving it.

All in all I would have to recommend this hotel to any and everyone needing a place to stay while visiting the Western Side of London (in this area). Its friendly staff, convenient location in relation to transportation and stores makes it the perfect place for an overnight or full weeks stay. With it being only 8 miles from Heathrow Airport also makes it a very affordable alternative to staying the night at one of hotels directly beside the airport.

Thank you for persevering through this choppy review, and I hope that the information I did put out does help. If you have any questions I would be happy to try to answer them, and if I can't I will try to ask the hotel itself as I will be staying for a weekend there each month. Or you can visit http://www.daysinn.com for general questions.

Cheers
Dave
