Mike is a call centre drone and the book tells of such things as his obsession with stealing office stationery - regardless of its usefulness, and one story where he crashed an office work party at the Space Needle. Space Needle.

Advantages: Tall Building, Great View
Disadvantages: Bad shirts on the tour guides?

...office work party at the Space Needle. Although its probably not the first time I had come across the Space Needle its the first time that it sunk into my conscious as somewhere I wanted to visit. I like a tall building and I like a bit of travel (in case you hadn't noticed..) and so the Space Needle had been hovering at the back of my travel thoughts for a while and since its now just down the road (OK, so its four hours from Vancouver) I headed ...
...is also home to the Space Needle.

The Space Needle stands at 184 meters high and was designed by Edward E. Carlson for the 1962 World's Fair held in Seattle. The Space Needle required a large cement foundation and it took 467 cement trucks an entire working day to fill it. Completed in December 1961 and opened four months later for the World's Fair, arriving at the Space Needle gave me one of those "Wow I'm really here" ... more

Seattles best views or not?

Advantages: Facinating building, views
Disadvantages: Beaten by the Columbia Tower

...sight in Seattle, the iconic Space Needle, was always going to be 'done' while visiting Seattle. It dominates the area to the north of downtown and has an irresistible magnetic force pulling people towards it. I didn't resist. I was up there within 2 hours of arriving in the city! (I was there solely for the views, not the restaurant, not the souvenir shop, so I cannot comment on either of these.) Tickets at 2007 prices are $16 for adults ($8 for ...
...the south. Looking north, the Space Needle seems diminutive from here. It is also far better value, a bargain at $5. Yet, despite this, the Columbia Tower doesn't shout out 'Seattle' like the Needle does. It is the practical persons alternative to the romance. My advice. Do both towers and satisfy both the heart and the head. Your eyes will benefit from both! ...

The wet City

Advantages: The people a friendly
Disadvantages: It rains all winter!

I live in Tacoma which is a beautiful town right next to Seattle. I was born and raised in Washington and have lived in Seattle for about a year and a half. I enjoyed living in Seattle for many of its things to do and see, like the space needle, safe-co field, Pike's Place Market or just a walk down the Ballard locks. Its very rainy here in the winter months, but the spring and summer weather is almost perfect. It is typically about seventy five to eighty five degrease. If your in Seattle one place you need to look up is a restaurant called the cheese cake factory. Its expensive but they have the best food in town. If you don't like the rain don't come to Seattle in the winter. Its January and its rained four inches in the last week. A lot of places are flooding in the low parts of the city, but don't let that stop you from checking out ...

NOT Sleepless in Seattle

Advantages: Cheap, nice rooms, good location, nice employees
Disadvantages: The elevator smells like a pit latrine

a non-smoking floor?unfortunately the individual sleeping in the room across the hallway was not in possession of that information. In the morning we stepped out of the room to find one of our greatest fears actualized: The hallway was filled with smoke. The maids were dumping water into a trash cart which-thanks to our neighbor from across the hallway-had been on fire. (Evidently, the neighbor dumped his smoldering ash tray into a cart full of trash?and, POOF, the entire thing went up in smoke.) The hotel employees quickly had the situation under control and cleared the smoke out of the hallway. Nearby Attractions The hotel is located very near the famous Pike Street Market area and the Seattle Center and Space Needle. The free bus ride zone is just a block away and the number 16 bus will take you to the Ferry Terminal ...

Review of Days Inn - Seattle Downtown, Seattle

A Seattle gem!

Advantages: Price, location, ameneties.
Disadvantages: Noise, no elevators.

The hotel is a pleasant medium range/budget hotel in the Queen Anne District of Seattle, close to the Seattle Arena within 10 minutes walk of the Space Needle, the Experience Music Project and the Monorail. The hotel has 68 rooms over three floors in two parallel buildings separated by a small courtyard. Rooms have AC, multi-channel TV and a kitchenette. For full details logon to their website. (www.innatqueenanne.com). The hotel is an 'older style' building built in 1929, but it has been refurbished. However, some of the fittings and décor are showing their age. Despite this it is comfortable and very clean. Two things should be noted. Firstly, for accessibility, it has no elevators. Secondly, as the hotel is at an intersection, rooms on the street side can be quite noisy, especially on the ground floor. If noise is an issue make ...
